I could think of another team that people call them that..????

Correct historically, but maybe your tense is incorrect. We'll see soon.

"..people called them that..."?

My read was the Dogs gave Richmond some ammunition to work with in the second half. The Dogs flooded heavily in the second quarter and were able to rebound and break away easily from defence. To sustain that against the Tigers all game is flirting with danger.
Hardwick was quick to recognise this at half time and Liam Baker was moved forward in the third and set the tone early with his forward pressure and had a real impact. That got their tails up and the Dogs faced an uphill battle from there, all of a sudden the ball wasn’t escaping the Dogs backline with ease.
Credit to the Tigers for a brilliant third quarter, it won them the game and they were too good on the night.

I don’t watch enough Dogs games to know if it is always the case but Caleb Daniel looked like their most important player. He sets up the play for them and always puts players into better positions. Stats sometimes inflate a player’s importance but his 34 disposals last night at 91%m if anything, undersells him.
When we play them I’d be putting ANB on him as a hard tag. Take away Daniel and the Bulldogs will struggle

Good to see the AFL continuing last night with their distancing model by leaving great swathes of the upper deck empty.

Expect the same with Pies v Suns today.

Either ANB OR Spargo's clear role will be to HARD tag Caleb Daniel and then escort him to his car after the game, help him put his keys in the ignition and watch him drive of into the sunset

The virus proliferates outside of camera angle. That’s where super spreading  occurs. Didn’t you know?

Every time Josh Bruce got near the ball did  anyone else think "I cant believe this guy kicked 10 goals in a game?"

That's how bad North Melbourne are by the way.  Ben Brown should be aiming to kick 15 on Sunday.

And as for the soft Dogs, how much of their 157% came from their 130 point pounding of a listless North under the Telstra dome roof?

The best 3 teams in the comp are Melbourne, Port and Richmond in that order.

Naughtons set shot in the last quarter was one of the worst ever.  Kept looking up at the scoreboard.  Not sure what he was distracted by but shows how mentally weak the Dogs are.  Will be very disappointing if we lose to such a soft overrated outfit.

I thought exactly that.

Just making sure the perm looked alright!  He should have been hurrying back and just banging it through, was quite strange considering time left in game.

And put the blocks of wood on his feet so he can reach the pedals

He was actually checking the vision to admire and make sure his coiffure wasn’t too ruffled.

Gold Coast don't have a proper ruckman today.  This Chris Burgess fella who is named as ruck doesnt even get any hitouts and the kid Graham gets 10-12 per game.  Just what  the hell are they playing at?   Grundy will get 80 hit outs today.

Would love to see a Qld club add a nail to Buckley's coffin after he walked out on the bears/lions/whatevertheywere.

They could’ve waited until next week to open such a market

So they are 3x as likely to win against melb than bullies or Wc and 5x vs Richmond?  Shows we have not yet earned any trust in what we are doing.

The odd will get longer as the season goes on. ie if they beat us the other games become pointless.

Just saw the filths banner on fox. they spelt tonight as tonihgt. What a farce of a club. Wonder how they spell teeth ?

The ruck position is over rated. I don;t remember the exact details but in the game against brisbane Grundy had something like 80% of the hit-outs. The pies still lost the game.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
