Would you take Jeremy Howe back?

Featured Replies

No, and for a few different reasons. His position is not a need. He wouldn't come dirt cheap in terms of salary. Injuries are really affecting the back end of his career.

Nah. He was a jerk when he left. If it wasn’t for us choosing him as a speculative pick he’d still be taking hangers somewhere in Tassie.

what a [censored] you are. Give the guy some credit for becoming one of the best defenders in the game.

Meanwhile we're loving steven May even though he left gold coast because they were bad and literally the same reason Howe left.

Peoples blinded loyalty affects their logic. So how is May's decision any different.

Quality player. i'd definitely have a good look at it if he was keen.

there is no doubt in my mind he'd improve our team.

I'd take him back. He is one of the best defenders in the game. Just because May and Lever are ahead of him on current form doesn't mean that he isn't a great player.  All of this talk saying that he is past his prime etc. is way too harsh considering his injuries. Maybe he isn't the greatest bloke off the field, but to me he interviews well and doesn't seem like a tool. Using the phone incident as an example is barely a hanging offence. I think people are just too proud to admit that they would have him back.

I think he is a very good player, but he would struggle to get a game in our team, so why spend money on aging surplus?

He basically plays the exact same role as Lever, except Lever is 6 years his junior and a far superior on field leader.

There are far better options out there if we are looking to add players to our list at the end of the season.

Whatever one thinks of him and the circumstances of his departure, where would he fit in to our lineup and game plan?

Certainly not current beat 22.

Im a one eyed supporter. What can I do. It blinds my logic.

Nup, [censored] him.

He walked out. He’s constantly injured. We’ve got his position well covered now.

We’re winning this year off the back of good culture, our team hasn’t really changed. Why mess with positive culture by bringing him back?

If he improves the team, for sure i would. But he is getting injured a little too often now

Half Back is a Speed and precision position now.
He may have to watch our success from the Grandstand

Can someone tell me what the difference is between howe leaving melbourne and may leaving Gold Coast? But we choose to look the other way with May. What a joke some of you lot are.

I don't hate or even dislike Howe.  I have no emotion, as I'm not invested in him.

That said, I couldn't care less what some supporters feel.  It's inconsequential to me.

Why do you care what others think ?

because as an intellectual person it bugs me when people don't use basic logic.

p.s. you're on a supporters forum so of course you care what some supporters feel.

I'm interested in observations and information I may not know, but I couldn't care less about how they ''feel''.

Haven’t heard May say a bad word about Gold Coast since he left. Same can’t be said for Howe.
Howe has carried himself like a [censored] since he left us.

I wouldn't automatically rule out a player that will be 32 next year, but in Howe's case his body has been ravaged with injury.

Wow, I didn't realise he was that old...

He had a great injury free run there for a while but the last few years haven't been kind.

Collingwood's list is looking worse than I thought with Sidebottom on the way out and Pendles nearer the end than the start and Howey struggling with injury also near the end.

Leave him to the beer-snakes!

He's been Collingwooded. The only good players we ever got from them were Peter Moore, Henry Coles and RIP Flash Gordon.

I would take anyone back except $cully but he's done. For free (or close to) as a backup yes, but not for any serious price.

Screamers massively overrated considering most were turned over immediately or came when we were 82 points down.

No we shouldn’t get Howe.

And if you think we should, you should feel bad and remorse. So head down for the rest of the day...

Exactly there's a reason we got rid of him. I still remember Roos having a crack at both Howe and Watts during the break of a night game vs Sydney. You could tell he was exasperated trying to get these guys to adhere to the structure and team rules.

May returning home leaving a cultural wasteland to be close to family and friends, without bagging his old club.  Howe bagged the club that got him out of Dodges? Ferry. He left to play as a forward and then played as a defender. And did I mention he went to Collingwood!

One wears a Red and Blue jumper the other wears a Black and White jumper. Pretty simple observation to me.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
