I think he will request a trade out given lack of game time.

Yes, either we find a place for him or he'll probably look elsewhere.  That would be a shame.

I really doubt this. I think you'll see a better Harmes when he comes back. Reports are he's the fittest he's ever been and been placed back in the forward half where he is much better playing that role while spending time in the middle.

The guy bleeds red and blue as a long term Melbourne supporter/person. He will bang the door down I think. Not sure if it will come to full fruition but that will be the goal for player and club as an important piece come Sept.

Petracca "To kick 10"

Doesn't surprise me if reports are true that Rivers is out. Put his body on the line time and time again on Saturday night. Hopefully its just soreness and not something more.

Jetta the clear and obvious replacement. Been playing consistently in VFL playing through the middle as a cut above. How good is depth!

Really hoping reports of Jones and Melk at Casey this week is true. No more games gifted to senior past proven players. Base it on form and structure.

Out: Jones, Melk, Rivers

In: Brown, Jetta, Sparrow

Sub: Bedford or Bowey (who bother played well last week)

Without any knowledge, there is a good chance he is a bit banged up - he doesn't shirk a contest, that's for sure

Weed would be privately miffed after kicking 10 goals in 2 weeks.

Presumable Melksham or Jones will be dropped for BBB unless there is a mystery injury or resting required.

He can be miffed but BBs track record is miles better than Weids

In Brown and Chandler

Out Jones (managed) and Melksham.

If Rivers out, bring in Jetta

Weid and Harmes are going to have to bide their time at Casey - and bang the door down before they get picked.

A number of posters are saying that we will be too tall having 3 talls in our forward line. Why would this be an issue? We pl;ay 3 talls in the backline, and we still have great defensive pressure. Why can't that logic and performance apply to the forward line?

I don’t think the two things are mutually exclusive. A player can make things difficult for the opposition AND get the ball a bit themselves; ANB and Pickett are doing this.

Count how many possessions Spargs got from these highlights. I make it 1 kick.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm happy if he does this all day for 1 kick.

I think we can play 3 talls if one Jackson is one of them because he can be a forward target, a ruckman, mid. A coaches dream because he can be whatever we want him to be, and he could probably hop on one leg and bark like a dog whilst doing it.

It could work but you can’t swap a Ben Brown for a Small, it would have to be for a mid size like Melk or Fritsch. Neither typically apply any more pressure fwd than the talls but can create a mismatch like Fritsch did vs cats.

This is very likely MFCSS but we really have to be mindful of not sculling the bath water, we’ve had a great win last week but I want the boys switched on from the outset. The coaches should be pointing to our depth and saying, “if you don’t perform there are guys ready to take your place”. Stay focused Dees.

I’m glad BBB is playing but I’m also a little sad he’s not debuting at the MCG. Surely Melksham makes way. Weid very unlucky but TMac in such great form.

Jones and Melk playing VFL and Rivers out according to @Dannyz mail, so there could be more changes to come along with Brown.

I'd like to see Bedford or Chandler get a guernsey.

Harmes could not have injured himself at a worse time, he will (should) be pushing [censored] uphill to get back into the side.

Just to clarify, I was alluding to the fact he was banged up after Saturday night and so may need a rest.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jones' 301 game is as the sub, which would mean just one change to the 23.

In: Brown

Out: Chandler

Aknowledges that the sides been going really well and all he's gunna try and do is "fit in to the structures".

We got a seasoned, 60+ goal a year key forward just casually and calmy entering the line up.

Goddamn, we really are flying right now.

Was wrong about Jones and Melksham, thought they were dropped. They are not playing at Casey.

Could a sore/managed player make room for BBB, or will one of Melky or Joness be the medical sub?

True. Good pick up.
Mystery injury of the week or emergency for Sunday?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
