Great night for our club. Huge win, good crowd for our home game.

How good was ANB’s goal from the sideline.

UNBELIEVABLE.

Its my birthday.

Had a killer mexican lunch/pizz up

Seeing the Tuggers get brought back to reality AND their supporters salty tears

Chunks 300/Salem/Tracca and the boys light it up

6-0

Yep. Gonna remember this one!

Happy bday mate!

How good was our defence? -4 in the I50s, won by nearly 6 goals. Amazing

Big game against the reigning Premiers on prime time TV and did it in style.
6-0.
Strange days indeed.

Go the Mighty Demons.
Ya stuck it right up 'em.

As David King keep mentioning this week we still haven’t beaten anyone of note.

What will also be interesting is he never says anything bad about his old teammate Adam Simpson.

Two things to talk about this week going against the grain for him

Please don't ?

Just heard an interesting stat on Fox Footy. The last 4 times two teams started the season on 6-0, those 2 teams played off in the Grand Final...!!  Let's make it five!

Nathan Jones plays for the rest of the year FULL STOP.

The team solidarity around him to get success is massive and come finals, that will be an inspiration factor.

He stayed with us when we were an absolute embarrassment.

As long as he is on the park come September, other guys will give that extra 1% to do everything they can to give him a grand final chance.

Not saying it’s all about him but my god, the team looks like they’re willing to die for each other at the moment.

The fight at the end was a sight I haven’t seen in Melbourne teams for 20 years.

We won’t be pushed around ANYMORE

I knew with 100% certainty that would be the first reply.

I know it’s hard to see things clearly when you’re watching on TV, but Spargo’s work rate was enormous. The tackles he laid were after running 50m. He was absolutely fantastic off the ball, which you often don’t see on TV.

Wrong! U could even see it on the Tv tonight spargos chasing was immense.

James Jordon 6W 0L, playing his role well, tough when needed and being that link player whenever required

Hunt released as running half-back is working well, he and Langdon seem to be supporting each other and trusting each other more and more

Brayshaw settling into his new role just quietly - 26 touches

Jackson with a breakout game - outstanding effort

That's the best I've seen us play since I can remember, especially considering the conditions.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
