Interestingly the game may have been played in Sydney (for some strange reason) if the Hobart game fell through.

Thus the game may not have even been relocated to Marvel.

I guess that is good news for our Tassie fans (all 3 of you? haha)

Hope we can finally find a win at the wind tunnel.

Stupid odds.

100 to one on is ridiculous odds in a two horse race, even in this contest where one of the horses is a thoroughbred champion and the other is a Shetland pony.

You almost have to chuck 10 on them in an attempt to alleviate the shame of losing.

It's an effort to get people to back North there would be vey few fronting up with their cash.

$1.01 you get a better return from the bank!

Thanks for the help Clint. We got our tickets; Ricky Ponting Stand Bay 7, so you will be able to hear us where you are. Just look for the children and Nort fans we startle.

Presumably the AFL had decided that the most important component of this match was to make Melbourne fly for about an hour to get to their.

Yep this is exactly how bookies work - most don't seem to understand this

Is this the ground that routinely has an 8 goal wind blowing whichever way it feels like?

Would be just our luck if the wind changed each quarter and the Kangas had the wind the whole game.   Only something that mental could stop the Dees juggernaut.

We got Boon bay 12. Couldn’t get anything in Ponting for a group of our size (8). Not perfect but should beat the garbage we’ve had the last few times.

Might do an Essendon fan and complain that the game wasn't moved somewhere more people could see it.

Correct if I'm wrong but every time we play North at Blundstone they end up kicking with the wind in the first quarter meaning that we were always too knackered to take advantage of it in the last?

The most minor of minor danger games this one, if we can't handle the wind.

This will only be a danger game if Bombay Airconditioning  placed that bet back in early March that North would lose every game this year. If he placed it, we will drop this game for sure. Hopefully he didn't.

We usually go to the Waterfront Hotel before and after. It's near the ferry stop and then a short walk to the ground. It gets pretty crowded but they have  a large outside area which is great when the weather's good, which it should be.

Was going to suggest Waterfront. Only one within walking distance.

Might have to wander in around 12 for a couple of pints before the game.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
