isn't Sparrow this player?

*sorry this is meant to be in response to the comment on our need for a replacement to Viney..

He's 183cm. I was meaning someone closer to 188-190cm.

Why do the Dees only have two picks when we have 3 players ( Nietschke,Hore,Tomlinson) out for season?

Because we didn’t move the three of them to the inactive list. Club chose only to take 2 selections. Might not use either of them.

I don't rate him, but if May or Lever went down, I'd be looking at Joel Smith for back there too.

Totally forgot about him. I'm probably in the minority here, but I like Smith. I think the coaches do too and wouldn't be surprised to see them persist with him for quite a while yet.

But the point is there's just not going to be greater ready-to-go talent out there than Majak and M.Brown

Yeah, tbh, I wouldn't have clue about the available talent, so I absolutely take your point.

TBF I don't know anything in detail about the talent either but there's just not going to be flag ready to go KPs out there.

According to Cal Twomey’s late mail on the AFL website....

Melbourne has an eye on Werribee VFL defender Kye Declase, who trained with the Dees over summer, and has also shown some interest in marking defender Daniel Turner
Does anyone know much about these guys?

Daniel Turner is a key defender at Murray Bushrangers. Is 18 and according to his coach has grown to 194. Averaging 18 disposals and is in the NaB team of the year from Afl draft . Com - and can kick.

I agree with others it's not a discussion for now with there being no opportunity to trade him mid season (only free agents) and keeping big man depth is important I think with us having such good depth in pretty much every other position (other then wing maybe).

BUT I am a bit pessimistic when it comes to Tmac. He is playing his role well currently yes. I don't think he's anywhere near his 2018 form nor do I think he will achieve this again. The bar has been set lower for him playing more a lead up role where he simply needs to create marking contests further up the ground and float back to do so in the forward line. His pressure in the forward line has been impressive but I think mostly his form has been more of a product of the overall teams form and cohesiveness.

I have made note of it many times on here, Tom's straight line running and tank is excellent no question, however his mobility/agility is so restricted. Regardless of how much weight he lost in the off season, he can't turn easily at all and this really limits his ability in contests that aren't in the air. I fear this will make him a liability in this possible wing role when/if the other two bigs come into the side.

I hope he continues to play this well whether in seniors or at Casey as his market value has definitely gone up and is a prime candidate for trade to another club in need of a decent key forward.

Agility is restricted?

Dead set laughable.

On Gus & Gawny, they touched briefly on the mid season draft, and mentioned the 'Werribee player' that trained with the club (didn't name him but was obviously Declase), and reading between the lines, sounded like he didn't impress

Cal Twomey has us linked to Kye Declase and very own Albury lad here in Daniel Turner who is a 191cm tall defender.

Is it just me or are these pundits never right when it comes to the Dees?

Surely, we pick some weird dude who's been tearing it up playing reserves out the back of woop woop. Or maybe in the Clarry mould - an overweight ranga.

Actually, there's more than a bit of Moneyball about the way we've recruited of late.

Isn't it wonderful when you can be so wrong about something that actually ends up coming to fruition and you can sit back and just admire. All the work he put into this part of his conditioning and fitness has really been on show this season.

I still think Tmac's agility/mobility is restricted, its just the way he is but he's worked mighty hard on it and its a big reason he's been able to get back into form.

I would not  be surprised if we pass. With the VFL now out for at least another two weeks minimum where are we going to use these potential additions? Add in extra cost when we will experience serious revenue drops this month. Could it all lead to PASS!

MELBOURNE

Selections: 15, 24

Melbourne is considering Werribee defender Kye Declase, who trained with them over the summer, Albury Tigers backman Daniel Turner and Murray forward Cameron McLeod. McLeod is a medium-sized forward who would add to the Demons’ already impressive array of goalkicking options, while Declase and McLeod could help shore up their defensive stocks, having lost both Marty Hore and Adam Tomlinson to season-ending knee injuries. It has been reported that Melbourne was set to reach out to Swan Districts midfielder Frank Anderson this week to arrange for the 23-year-old VFL export to have a medical. Anderson is coming off an impressive 26-disposal effort in Swan Districts’ win over East Fremantle on the weekend, also booting the final goal of the day to finish as one of his team’s best players.

Is Frank Anderson the bloke from South Croydon we were interested in before the 2018 or 2019 draft?

I think his impact on the team has been enormous. Firstly he is an endurance athlete (evidence ,that he is often competing for the back at Half  Back & deeper , but somehow is then competing in the front half.), secondly he is an excellent mark and a very accurate kick for goal. Thirdly he is a terrific team player. I suppose his only problem with some people on this site is that his surname is McDonald
