Like to see Will Bravo in this game.  Genuine pace and goalkicker.
Another interesting player is Isaac Wareham. Excellent running half back- wing type.  Good skills. Unlucky to miss out on 2019 draft.  Now at Geelong Cats VFL team.

Boomer Harvey anyone?

So he could train with our players and get them used to incessant “I am innocent, ump” sniping??

Former ST Kilda rookie?

On Saturday, May 8, club recruiters will get a chance to see some of the best contenders for the mid-season draft feature in the Colgate Young Guns game for Under 23 prospects at Werribee Oval (2.40pm).

Is it just me that finds it strange that there appears to be no-one aged 21-23 in an u23 match

A key back in case of further injuries would be handy

Also a mature ruck, in case Gawn goes down or needs a breather - as he is getting beaten up every week now.

Ironic that we overlooked Oscar McIneirny when he was playing as a Casey Demon. ?

Yes.  He has turned into one of the top VFL midfielders (wing/ruck rover).  Has good pace and excellent skills.  Won Port Melbourne B&F in 2019. Has returned this year even fitter and stronger.  Took on some StKilda listed players last week and beat them in the contest and spread.  I guess we are ok for mids but he could play a role on the wing.  I think we probably need a wing/outside pace (Templeton/ Bravo) and/or perhaps another insurance key defender (Coughlan).

didn't overlook him, we thought he'd get through to our pick and he didnt, thats different

But he was available at our first pick and instead went for some unknown giraffe in Lochie Fillapovic.

According to this bloke on Twitter, one of the best for Vic Country in the Colgate game was Kobi George who is also a Melbourne NGA. Quite interesting that our NGAs are attracting attention at the moment.

That's what we recruited Daw for preseason.

I'd like us to recruit one more inside mid type, as it's an area where we look a bit skinny at the moment depth wise.

A replacement for Tomlinson would be ideal for us. We can use this draft to our advantage. Perfect time to bring in a mature bodied replacement. Even if slightly older to just fill a role for the year.

This is now an important part of our season.. we need to make the most of this draft. Do we need an extra back or another outside runner?

What is everyone's thoughts? this is no longer just a draft to fill spare spots, we need to make sure this is used as a strategic move to add to our list and help with player management.

Agree. We need to drive hard for the premiership.  We have the chance this year. We must believe we can win it.

I think the mid year draft could be a “cover all bases” approach and find

1st a pacy wing type midfielder

and perhaps …

2nd a taller defender.

I think we have coverage across forwards tall and small, Ruck, inside mids  and small defenders coverage.

We definitely need a key back as cover for Petty if he gets injured. I say we need a ruck if Daw gets injured. Do we have 3 picks or 2? If we have 3 just the best available.

Looks like Marty Hore may be ready for a late season/finals re-birth if we run into a few injuries, re-joining the group for running this week.....you'd assume 10-12 weeks from there to be fit and smash a mini preseason

I'd prefer him to stay out for 12 months the risk of doing it again is likely.

One of the boys on the Deebrief podcast has a cousin named Will Hart who plays for Oakleigh Chargers. Apparently someone on our recruitment team is interested in picking him up in the mid season draft. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Interesting.

Will Hart is a 19 year old tall prospect at 195cm.

Has played 3 NAB league games so far. It looks like the theme of the mid season draft for us will be depth for our defenders.

We have 1 or 2 picks in the midseason draft. Any whispers on who we would be looking at?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
