Very similar demographics, up and about when they're doing well but very quiet otherwise. Tigers supporters have always been nauseating: if not for their hyperventilation when they were crap then for their "GOAT" rhetoric post-flags. Theyll never let anyone live down this four year stretch. And if they win it this year well then god help us all because they may well be the GOAT. Win 5 flags in 6 years, and 6 flags in 10 years, like we did* then they can frigging talk. * when my father was a toddler. 1 Quote

That loss on the siren to Freo, the media went them, and rightly so, for their soft underbelly. That same team has now won 3 flags. It can turn quickly. The great Geelong side were similarly flakey and unreliable in early 2007 and we know what happened after that. Given where we've been for almost 60 years, I would be very surprised if the vast majority of Melbourne people weren't humble if we went on a similar run. To be humble, I think, is one of the more important traits in life and in sport. It sounds like Richmond supporters have little of this, and for a club that failed to make the finals for almost 20 years and then when they eventually did get there, choked at the first asking, is pretty rich I reckon. I will be humble ( I can hear some of you sniggering in the background) if the ultimate prize becomes ours, but as I said to a Hawthorn supporter this week; " I look forward to being hated". 3 Quote

(Post Ray Dunn as background) He was the lovliest of men, polite , kind and courteous. Except on Monday mornings when the Tiges had won and he was unbearable. Although my relative wasn't a Tiges fan, he provided free Grand Final tickets for that family every year. They have a long and proud history of this behaviour so don't be surprised. Some who I never knew were supporters until a few years ago. Now I get one text a year, after Anzac eve with some smug comments. Oh how I long for them to be crap again so their fans can go back to be miserable! Quote

stynewillalwaysbeonthevine 84 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 In the lead up to the big games, i always download the oppositions app to get their interviews etc... might be a harsh critic but our media department can do better.. i know dusty has had more highlights/success... but have a look at the 9 minute video they have for him. It is creative and good media.. we have an article (atm) that goes through year by year on Jones' journey to 300 games. Should be able to turn this into a video i would have thought. 1 Quote

It probably helps when your media department has more $ to work with. High quality productions can cost money. Have a look at the difference in income/expenses between the MFC and Tigers about half way down this article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-22/how-afl-survived-a-big-hit-from-covid-19-coronavirus-football/100083470 1 Quote

Yeah, there's a couple tiger supporters at work that I respect beacuase they've been mad Tiges as long as I can remember. There are a few that have popped up out've the woodwork over the last few years. Funnily enough, they're the ones with the mouths. I also remember going around to the neighbours place to watch the footy a couple years ago. His mate turns up and declares he's a mad tiger and will probably get loud etc. Anyway we're watching the game with this fool carrying on and I asked him "Who's that bloke number ..... (whatever it was)" He goes .... "Ahhh .... I don't know the names of the players." Well shut the fork up then cork head. 1 1 1 Quote

You are probably an "alias" poster, but for the record; yes you do win games playing on emotion but IMHO it's not luck Jones is in the side but great management. Fools don't understand how belief and trust can elevate a group to greatness and on this particular weekend I would think there is a synergy within the team and an understanding of "sacrifice". 5 Quote

Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I personally think we've won the first 5 rounds without really digging deep or getting out of first gear. if we can play somewhere near our best against the Tigers it should be a cracking game. Honestly just want to see us take it right up to them, even if we lose we have a chance to prove to ourselves we can amtch it with teams like this. 5 Quote

Swan Valley McQueen is who he’s playing for, with another ex Guildford Grammar, Swan Districts and ex AFL player David Ellard. Although their two grounds are about 200m apart Quote

A little cocky?!?! Geelong were a little cocky after 3 flags in 5 years. Hawthorn were a little cocky after their threepeat, as were Brisbane. No, Richmond are more than a little cocky. They’re positively nauseating. They are belligerent and conceited and sadly I think beating them tomoz won’t change a thing. They were unbearable in the late 60’s and early 70’s and it took a 38-year drought to bring them back to earth. Quote
