The guys on the left and right know a ? when they see one.

Friggen bloody fantastic???

Greeny looks like he put on some kegs.

We have some super loyal boys considering where we came from and the state of the club in those era's.

Great to see old players back in the Rooms

They are still part of the Club

Jordan Lewis on SEN this morning was asked if Buckley goes from Collingwood who does he know who he thinks could take over. Straight off he said Yze then Sam Mitchell.

What a nightmare. I've gone from revelling in the ever increasing debacle over there to suddenly hoping they start winning enough games (Queens Birthday excluded of course) so that they resign Buckley and don't go near our Ooze.

Heats going to be on if that happens. Do we lose him to Collingwood or do we do something drastic to Goody just when he's got the place up and about. Maybe create a succession plan. He's familiar with them after all. That would be pretty unprecedented for a team that's becoming up and about. I suppose Collingwood did exactly that to Malthouse when they brought Buckley in.

I must say Goody looks like somethings not quite right at the moment. Watching footage of him around the playing group at the end of the Tigers game he looked almost down instead of what you'd expect, beaming with satisfaction.

Just remember Goodwin has gone through a pretty significant family upheaval. As someone that's gone through that myself it can be a pretty traumatic experience.  I was lucky there were no kids involved whereas he's got 2 I believe?

For all we know, there could potentially be an ongoing issue. We just need to be mindful and respectful of his current situation.

Perhaps just adjusting to being in unfamiliar territory..... positive.

He's probably just trying to keep a lid on it, if he was seen jumping for joy then the critics would be on top of him saying we've got ahead of ourselves thinking it's easy. To me it just looks like he's taking a much more measured approach to everything at the moment, even his answers in press conferences seem a lot more thoughtful this year. People forget the Harwick, Clarkson, Thompson etc. were the same, until they win a premiership, then they start to joke around or have huge opinions (which are taken as gospel by the media!)

I’ve been thinking the same and would be terrible lose yze so soon. Time to start hoping the pies finish 9th not 15th.

There is no doubt that our resurgence has been through the inclusions of Yze and Williams. There is no way that Goodwin is primarily responsible for it. We have to keep yze as long as we can and let him know that it is his job after 2022. Secretly ofcourse.

Its April - yes things are going well
Have we actually achieved anything like what we should be aspiring to - NO
Keep the lid on until we have the job done - a premiership cup is what this group should want - anything less is a disappointment
There is a long long long way to go in this season - much can change and change quickly
Hope not but we need to remain fully focused on every training session, every contest, every quarter, every match till Max holds the Cup in the air

Credit where credit is due - Goodwin is the snr coach and for better or for worse, the buck stops with him.

His tenure has seen:
2017    9th   12 wins
2018    4th   14 wins + 2 finals wins
2019   17th    5 wins
2020     9th     9 wins    (17 game season)

There's nothing too shocking about us playing well and I don't see anything more or less remarkable when compared to similar 'false dawns' with Leigh Matthews' Lions, Thompson's Geelong, Clarkson's Hawks; even Beveridge's Dogs.  All these teams experienced a degree of success with a young list, then fell away, only to return to the top a few years later.

Fair point and I was not having a go at goodwin, just saying as I see it. It will be 6 seasons after 2022 and just may be time anyway. They are coaches, not players.

In other words if we're losing, it's all Goodwin's fault, but if we're winning, it's all down to the assistants.

We've reached peak Demonland.

Agreed, which is why it's peed me off with the media constantly asking " Are Melbourne the real deal?" all freaking season.  It's been a long build, the quality is there in the core group and they have now played together for a number of years building cohesion, so why should it come as any surprise?

Port Adelaide have also had a similar trajectory to us.  Ken Hinkly has no doubt been under pressure at times, but I don't think there is much question that he is the guy pulling it all together.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
