Does that put the talk of us lacking on-field leadership to bed?

Well done to Max and the boys named AA.

...and as they would say, you can't get there without the rest of the team working with you on and off ground.

A great effort by the club to rebuild from the rabble we were.

I'm sure they will do us proud in the finals ahead.

Would this be the best year for individual success at the MFC?

5 As players

Coaches association winner

Rising star 4 nominations and winner

Brownlow???  Norm Smith?... Too far?

Wowee go Dee's.

Did I mention sack Goodwin?.... Some old habits die hard

I recall in 2000 when Daniher and everyone went gaga when Woey won the brownlow. I think it upset us that week and we were happy to be participating in a GF.

We aren't there yet but I sense these boys are a lot more grounded and will park their exceptional awards and re-focus very quickly on the work to be done.

Go Dees

Nearly a third of our team is AA! This is unprecedented for us.

But yeah, after tonight, back to business boys. No more smiles. No wild celebrations etc until the job is done.

To hear Oliver give such massive credit to Goody was great to hear. Sounds like he has been a real mentor and guide for Clarry.

he has the talent but you don’t put a season in like that without help. Goody is the quiet achiever. The boys love him.

I’m especially proud of May. He’s 29 and he’s really brought himself into this position the last two year by sheer hard work. Well done!

To be fair May was a gun full back for Gold Coast too! Perhaps in a stronger team he would have received more recognition.

Great that Petracca is an All - Australian. But as a half forward? As well as the Bont, it feels a little farcical.

I think it’s amazing bont and trac genuinely play pure on ball roles and have a level of productivity in front of goal that they can push out a full time fwd, in the past Danger and Martin would split there time fwd and mid to have his output. Still it would be good to have them named 1 and 2 mids next to Gawn as the premier followers they are but alas.

Congrats to Clarry, Trac, Rick, Maysie and Gawny on their All Australian selection

Thanks for this commentary everyone! As some have said, and no doubt everyone has thought, What. A. Night.

Apart from the Charlie/Flag/Norm trifecta, one other item to tick off to make it a quaddie: Coach(*) Of The Year.

(*which would be 'Coaches' in our case)

(Quiet note to AFL: it's 'centre', not 'center')

Awesome haul and all thoroughly deserved.

Most happy for Maysy. I’m still annoyed at his farcical non-selection last year where he should’ve been a shoe in for the 22 and didn’t even make the damn squad.

Give him another 3 blazers and I’ll be over it. Maybe.

But they prefaced the two wingers' selections based on the improvements in their inside games.....

Not sure why Maysie didn't get the nod at full forward given he's had a couple of pings at goals this year.

I chuckled when Merrett was described as the best winger in the game. No he's not. Langdon is the best winger in the league.

Scooped the pool! Well done to our guys there was no question at all about them deserving to be in it. Great stuff!

I hope in the future there will two AA teams selected. So many of the choices are subjective. Who can say Harris Andrews in better than May?  Players need to be selected for actual positions and not cluttered with too many midfielders. There is also an opportunity for actual match ups say like Gawn vs Niknat.

Last year there was a post on Instagram  that had goals scored against May throughout last season, Harris Andrews numbers weren’t nearly as good but went on to be selected.

I’m just so proud of the boys but more so  of being a supporter who’s stuck it out with them.
We’ve arrived, but the summit is ahead. @Pollyanna

May you and @Pennant St Dee be there to plant the Grand Old Flag!

Great result for the club but also for the development & culture implemented when you consider the train wreck Roos inherited back in 2014, lets hope the players are still hungry chasing the ultimate success !

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
