Melksham will come in for Sparrow. Sparrow then used as the medical sub.

If this is so it is an absolute disgrace!! Period. Melksham offers zero pressure, has no form, an outs a player who has done EVERYTHING RIGHT!!

I will be thoroughly peeesrd of if this occurs> FFS Goody make him earn it!!?

I understand this post.

If melk is in for sparrow I believe it will come from view that he will increase our scoreboard pressure. He is more likely to kick goals than Sparrow who is still learning.

Yea melk was poor last year lets be honest but so were a few others.

At his best he was a sharpshooter who plays tall.

Sparrows been good but not on fire. Hes young.

With tmac being quiet last week i guess melk makes more sense.

lll trust the club and wait and see.

If Melksham comes in for Sparrow I will have a [censored] attack. Melksham avoids the hard ball and won't chase. Sparrow goes for it but is still young so the more games the better. Oh hang on isn't Melksham one of Goodies essendon mates ?

geez that's harsh on jones

some of his i50 passing - i can think of one to jackson in particular - has been first rate

Some of Jones' evasion from packs in possession of the ball have also been first rate and set up good plays.

Melksham is coming back from injury, is underdone and has not played at all this season, plus was poor last season . HOW he can be considered is fantasyland stuff.Sparrow is hard at it fierce and has done that has been asked

No Brainer he stays

Totally agree. I can't see how Melksham has earned a game.

He was incredibly lazy last year. Couldn't understand how he ended up captain at one point.

What message does it send to a young bloke like Sparrow.

Get more of the pill?

The 'no changes to a winning side' mantra is so strange. If you can make the side better, you do.

Big no to Jake "zero tackles" Snake for mine.  Today's forward game revolves so much around pressure and we can't afford to bring someone in who brings the complete opposite and allows the opp to waltz out of the back line under little or no pressure.

Hopefully Dazzle's sauce is a bit off on this one as it would send a terrible message through the entire team.

About the only change for this week for mine, which probably won't happen anyway, is Hibb for Jetta.

I believe the idea is that making no changes makes the side better.

Lets win this one for Prince Philip, its what he would have wanted.

To think that when he watched the granny in '64 from his throne, that would be the last time he'd ever witness his beloved demons win a premiership.

Rnd 1, April 5th 1970 Richmond v Fitrroy was the last time the Royals, including the late Prince Philip, attended/watched the footy live i believe.

It was the first ever Sunday match, scheduled to accomodate the visit, which included an extra long 40 minute half time break to allow for a calvalcade and on ground player introductions.

Swooper Northey was in the Tiger's squad that day and stated the players were more interested in meeting the Royals than the game itself!

He doesn't look a day over 85 there.

So glad many Demonlanders aren’t selectors.. holy heck lol ?‍♂️

Changes should be:

Melksham for Jones (desp need some class and finishing. Best f50 entry kick we have apart from maybe Gus atm). Chunk been ok, strength has been good and had key moments in games, but lacks polish.

Hibberd for Jetta - NOT What on earth would Nev be dropped for? Seriously.. wow

Hibberd into sub spot: Flex is theme here so on first look pig doesn’t give us that, but after quick analysis he actually does. Can go to wing, do a tag role, or go back and release Rivers or Hunt fwd to mix things up.

Rosman into emergency/sub mix

Changes actually (likely) be:

Melksham into the Sub

OR

Melksham in for Chunk

Chandler/Baker in for Sparrow

Sometimes players like Melksham or Hibberd need to win back their spots on the team after just cruising for the last couple of years and that their spot on the list is in jeopardy they will do the hard yards to win back respect from their teammates.

I believe the current teams needs Harmes, Hibberd, Melksham, Brown Vanbenberg and Weideman capturing their best form then we are a chance to win the ultimate team prize in football.

On the contrary Durango we will run the flag if by after the bye we start introducing BBB as FF, Bowey or Locky for BP, Petty in the regular 23 and Rosman when he earns it into the mix.

Weid  May challenge And be in the team but Jacko does so much more in the ruck and round the ground inc. up forward. A wonderful spare parts player is LJ and he enables Gawny to freelance back or forward!

Thats the team That will challenge and Laurie may also be near AFL standard as well by then.

Faster more skilful with all bases covered. A real dip in 2021 is not out of the question if we maintain our good traits on show so far this season.

Lets enjoy the ride!!

Pretty sure that"s a Fitzroy official DA.  I'd be surprised if he was still on the board at 85 as well!

Well if he makes the cut into a perfect start team without even having to prove his form in the Mcgoos i would say he is a VERY Goody Essendon mate CBD

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
