If we lose this, it'll be down to that old fan favourite, skills: poor disposal, poor kicking for goal, even poor marking.

Hunt on borrowed time I feel, he's just too poor a field kick. Surely Hibberd comes in to replace him.

We are keeping StK in this game - should be 4 or 5 goals clear. Only ourselves to blame if we duck this up.

Very solid AGAIN

He has the crew around him. Lever May and Tomlinson all been good.

Positives so far, apart from 75% of the second quarter we have been so clearly the better team it’s ridiculous. Game should be over, simple as that. We killed them for most of the third quarter and missed some very simple chances.

Fritsch finally finding the goals was massive then, he simply had to kick it. Bloody hell it’s tight though, shouldn’t be but it is. Bring it home Dees!!!

These games drive me nuts.

We should have buried the Saints by now.

Always comes down to opportunities. I hope we don't regret our missed chances.

Maggots should get the saints up from here. But... It's our own fault for being in this position

Yes he’s our only multiple goal scorer

Is he up fwd?

Was confident half way through the Qrt. The ease at which they scored the 2 goals worried me. Hopefully we run over the top of them

Special comments from Luke Darcy as King takes a set shot

"Good looking kick. Slightly across the face...in fact he's missed the lot..."

Haha he's good isn't he

Can’t blame the coach for the dropped marks, mis kicks, shocking handballs and pathetic goal kicking. Should be 6-8 goals up and home. Waiting for the Saints top last quarter to steal the game.

This. We may make the finals, but hard to see us getting to the pointy end with skills as they are. Bowey can't come on soon enough.

Tommy!!!!

Is Brayshaw back next week ?? Need him in the team.

oh he’s playing. !! Wtf.  He’s just jogging around. 7 possessions

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
