Basically that we have gone nowhere over the last 3 years and that our coaching team is now almost dysfunctional with Yze and Williams in the wing. Bartlett wasn't spared either. Inability to sign Oliver etc

Nothing that most of us haven't been saying for a year or two... bottom line Goodwin disappoints

Fair enough that we haven't done anything for 2 years, but how the hell could they say out coaching group is dysfunctional when we haven't even played a game yet?!

Great to see the passion on  here, win or lose it will go off after the game. Win I hope!

Yze and Williams are a message for Goodwin... In that sense the group is not cohesive

No CEO would put up with it which shows how tenuous Goodwin's position is.

Anyway as you say early days and he may surprise

I still can’t work out why they didn’t change our game to a 1.10pm start and play the other game here this evening? Would have allowed plenty of time in between to quick clean/prep

MCC has very strict and firm ground management guidelines i believe. two games in one day can impact turf quality.

Cant play Jetta and Jones in the same team together but I prefer Jetta to Jones. Jones offers nothing other than being a witches hat to shuffle around and cannot play out a full game. He will be subbed out or will keep the bench warm for the last quarter. It’s astounding that he still gets a game when he should have retired gracefully two seasons ago.

Kade Chandler named sub!

Disappointing crowd so far, where are all the Dees supporters??? Only expecting 24,000 today, I would have thought a lot more.

Jones still offers offensive ball use and drive.

I'm harsh here but Jetts actually offers nothing anything. Incredibly slow, and lose one on one contests far too easily.

Actually gobsmacked Jetta is playing today.

Was just thinking that, 25mins before the bounce and there seems to be only about 5k here now!

They might be a message but no CEO would get them in if they were going to make the group dysfunctional. They were brought in to give the team the tools they need. If it then goes pear shaped, well fair enough. But it would make no sense to bring them in to mess up the coaches group or else they might as well have sacked Goodwin last year

For Jetta or Jones?

I'm disappointed Lockhart is injured. He'd be playing today instead of Jetta.

Better than the ghastly empty stands with fake  crowd noise.  Be grateful!

I’m assuming there’s going to be a mass arrival of supporters in the next 20 minutes as there’d be lucky to be 10,000 people at 1:25pm.

I used the term CEO in the business sense. Goodwin is the CEO of football and therefore the most powerful person int he club.

Pert is an administrator

Strange beasts..footy clubs

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
