Yeah go for it I can see him smashing it on a wing in a mad scramble to fill that spot!

As iterated previously, I would be very surprised if Majak Daw isn't a Dees Player by close of business tonight, given what I have seen at training!

  • Demonland changed the title to WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MAJAK DAW

its a good story.. for Daw.. i would have went other ways, but hope he can do what the club expects.

so, 3 list spots to go? and Lockhart will miss a long time as well.. surely we dont go into the  season with 3 available list spots not filled?

Meanwhile, Essendon has jumped in and signed 18 year old South Australian prospect Kaine Baldwin who is expected to be a gun once he gets over his injury woes.

No doubt a superstar that’s why 80 picks were taken before he was even considered.

Deakin Smith also signed up.

Literally know nothing about Smith.. what type is he?

Best big name outside the AFL system by far ...

Congrats Majak.

Simply my observations from venturing out West yesterday, some others might have seen different.

As mentioned previously he only played a half. He started full forward and was our main target. He led up to the 50 several times in the first quarter (we sat directly behind our forwards) and the pleasing thing was he was able to get his hands to the ball first in pack situations.  The Dogs were well drilled all day and didn’t allow us space and time from the start. Daw was always fighting two and three blokes. I wanted to see him stick a few marks which wasn’t the case early but at least he brought the ball to ground close to the packs. By the end of the quarter he took a couple of marks.

His work rate off the ball was good, never gave up a chase and we were chasing all day. He got his goal in the second quarter curtesy of a free but that was more to do with good positioning. Not sure how we use him going forward but wish him nothing but good luck, you just never know.

So in the article it says Daw is not likely to play early in the season, didn't make much sense of will he be backup for our backups?

It doesn't make sense at all.

We needed someone to urgently help out in the first 4 games.

The T Mac and Jackson combo hasn't inspired as yet.

Yep just heard Max Gawn on SEN say Daw isn’t likely to be seen for the first part of the season. I initially thought he was considered as we’d lost our forwards to injury. So if he isn’t playing in first few rounds when our main forwards are missing, what’s the point? I’m now fairly annoyed by this signing.

Daw wasn't considered good enough by any of the 18 teams until we threw him a lifeline today. Hopefully he'll never play a game for us. I say that not because I dislike him, but if he's getting a game, that means we have too many injuries and/or McDonald and Jackson aren't playing as well as they are capable.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
