Interesting no Salem?

They’ve basically never really said he’s injured or with what. They sort of referenced it in passing in a press conference. I suspect he’s struggling a bit with groin issues that they’re managing. Don’t think they want to advertise it tho which is fair enough.
I think Tom is a good chance to play. If his back was really bad they wouldn’t have put him through that flight or made him leave his family for 7 days to stare at a hotel wall.

There was also a rumour on Demonland that he was injured but seems as though it was just a rumour.

Viney suspended.  Round 23.
Tomlinson.  Season.
Hunt. Ankle. TBC.
Tom McDonald.  Back. TBC.

Weideman??? Shoulder???

don't tempt fate...there's 16 minutes to play after a solid 30 mins cooling down...reeks of a disaster waiting to happen...

Such bad luck for Hunt. He was one of 12 (I think) players to have played every game to this point, wasn't he?

We can cover him I think (Hibberd), but hopefully our season progresses long enough for him to be able to push to get back into the 22.

Bad luck for Hunt. Sent back to his natural position on halfback this year and he’s flourished again and played every game. He’s not the cleanest player, but he’s one of our most impactful when on. Shame he might miss playing finals after being a consistent part of the team that got there.

Super disappointing and his pace will be really hard to replace. I hope he can make it back for prelims if we make it that far.

I would say Hibbo is the natural replacement there and Bowey can play a more attacking role with Hibbo defending. You lose pace with Bowey but you gain better ball use.

Let’s hope Salem’s groins hold up n

Very unlucky for hunt, no wonder he looked so glum in the rooms after the game

Shattered for Hunt, one of my favs and will be missed.  I know his speed is what stands out but he is so good defensively.

We loose a lot of run out the back half, hope it's only 3-4 and with the bye he's still a chance

Injury and Suspension List: Round 22

Tom McDonald (back spasms) — Test

Mitch Brown (heel) — Test

Jack Viney (suspension) — 1 Week

Marty Hore (knee) — 3 to 5 Weeks

Jayden Hunt (ankle) — 4 to 5 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

That is really rotten luck for Hunt, he’s really looked a lot more settled this year and has used his outside run well (particularly when he partners with his twin). This is without a doubt a loss. Hopefully he can get himself back in for some finals later on.

Um is Hore going to play this year?

Yes but not in the seniors unless absolute disaster strikes with injuries.

Surely not worth the risk. Give him until next season.

Wouldn't have thought we'd lose too much pace with Bowey. Kid is quick.

Yes but Jayden is a seasoned campaigner and line breaker and can take a lot of physical pressure, we couldn’t expect Bowey to withstand that tempo in his first few games. Very sorry for Hunty one of my favs. Maybe deClasse to wing and JJ half back??

Doubt we will debut any more players this close to the finals but could be wrong. I would expect Hibberd to come in with his pace and experience. Hope he has freshened up a bit because he looked way off the boil in his recent games.

Perhaps Hibberd can play a lockdown role on opposition defenders like his game against dusty earlier in the year. Should free up Bowey for some more  attacking plays and remove intensive defensive responsibilities.

Unlucky for Hunt but I still am not sure how he would go under under finals pressure. Would prefer players that are more reliable than those that might get caught HTB on a long run. Harsh I know, he had been good this year. But we can cover him with Bowey and Hibbo

judging by alan richardson's video i would guess plugger mac is less rather than more likely

If so the question will be will do we look at Weideman one last time? Felt we were a tall short against West Coast.

Hibberd is finished too slow and fumbly we need to include pace into lineup this week maybe Bedford??

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
