Viney to play VFL by all accounts, can’t see Hib or Melk rushed back either.  They might be ‘fit’ but are they ‘right’?

great news re Lockhart - 2 to 3 weeks.

crap news re Brown and Weids - look r6 or r7 before we see these guys.  Both running though.

I thought Hibberd's 2020 was average.  That aside, imv others offer more this year so we can cover him with the players I mentioned.

My insight on J. Smith is he is listed as 'Test' in the table earlier in this thread.  Round 1 is about 3 weeks after the injury so 'Test' looks about right for him.

Bowey is one I suggested in my post.

One has to look at 2020 form and Hibbo does not deserve to be dropped for that at all in fact he was one of our very good defenders along with May Saleme late in year and Rivers in the last 5 games. Think of what happened this time last year as he mourned his brothers loss. Very courageous effort in 2020 and IMO let no one down.

Although  injured Up to now he has played 1 and a half games last week in best 3 so firm good on both areas.

Contrast  this with Melky who had poor seasons in both 2019 ( injury also) and 2020 and has hardly played a quarter so far.
Who should or deserves to replace Hibbo LC?
We have to be careful that we don't go too tall for Fyfe and Taberner vs Freo.

I wasn't disparaging Hibberd.

I think his courage and committment last after losing his brother was enormous.  All credit to him for the year he had.

Not sure I want to go around in circles about our respective views of his 2020 season and where he fits into the team this year so I'll leave it at that.

I just feel he is right at the end of his career and I think the one year contract shows  that.

More to say I think we have gone past him and his weaknesses,

He's cooked.

I think he'll faze out of the team Bernie Vince style.

Brown was 4-6 two weeks ago,  now 5-7.  ?

So just two best 22 players injured.

Freo and saints are worse off

no excuses demons.

Just read the latest injury report.
After all these years I am still amused at the crap that clubs write.

Normal for over 30  year olds but he is totally different from Nev who is in fast pace decline sadly.

There’s enough quality with enough training for it to be no excuse. Brown and Weideman are really the only 2 injuries

Funny a guy who has never even played a game not even a practise game  for us is missed.

Certainly can't make excuses this week as the Dockers have more injuries than we do

Yes they do and I won't be making any excuses.

The problem is we have a few best 22 players getting some minutes for Casey such as Viney, Melksham and Hibberd which does not help us at all come tomorrow.

Hoepfully next week Vs St Kilda we can add at least 2 of those 3 names into the side.

In Melkshams form last year he is nowhere near the intensity and skill for a senior birth without earning it.

Weideman, Ben Brown -6-7weeks

Lockhart, Mitch Brown, Joel Smith 2-3 weeks

Viney, Melksham, Hibberd at Casey.

# Hore # Nietschke out for 2021.

(2 more players available to be added in mid season)

Early prognosis

It was a good week on the injury front for the Demons, with Hibberd (ankle), Melksham (hamstring) and Viney (foot) all making it through a VFL practice match unscathed. Their impending availability adds to the clean bill of health that the side enjoyed following Saturday's win over the Dockers. - Riley Beveridge

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
