BBB are averaging about the same this season.  Weid hardly got near it in his first game back apparently.  He's kicked 0, 7 and 3 goals in his outings so far this year hasn't he?

I personally think we could and should manage/rest Jacko and possibly T Mac/BBB at some stage this year, so Weid will get his chance at AFL level.

First game was a practice match in atrocious conditions, but yes he did kick 0 and BBB kicked 1.

Sideshow Bob has been kicking goals for years. The Weid has had a few good games at AFL Level. 
The jump between VFL and AFL is massive 

On track to kick 10 today... how do you not reward that? 

Weideman and Brown is by far the best combination at AFL level.

I'd hate to lose Weideman due to McDonald's good form.  Hats off to McDonald, but Weideman will be a better AFL forward and IS the future.

Completely agree. 
We need to keep Weideman and we need to start rewarding him. It’s just hard when McDonald is in blinding form not seen since 2018. Nobody expected it. I don’t think Melbourne expected it. 
My only knock on Weideman is he’s quite poor defensively, which is why I think he hasn’t played seniors yet. Really needs to do more when he doesn’t win the ball.

Explain to me the logic behind replacing a player who has been in the coaches votes in most games this year in an unbeaten side, with one who had one scoring shot in his last four AFL games.

Tmac had better hands, better set shot and more aerobic capacity then Weid right now

Yes Sam is also quite good in these areas (pack /overhead making still Wip) and should pass Tmac at some stage might not be this year if Tmac keeps up his form

I think some people are missing the point.

It's not so much a Weideman vs Brown, but more so that it's Weideman competing against McDonald. 

I've really enjoyed McDonald's form this year, but the ideal world for us is its Brown, Jackson and Weideman as our preferred talls up forward. Long term, Weideman is a much better fit for us and am worried that due to him being out of contract this year, he may look at other opportunities. 

After last night's performance, we simply need to get Weideman in. How the coaches rectify that I have no idea, but he's far too good for VFL level.

Bringing in Brown was an absolute no brainer. He's a proven star full forward when up and going and his record speaks for itself.

A fit Ben Brown makes us a genuine premiership contender.

You are correct that we need to get Weideman in. He is on the borderline of becoming an A Grade AFL forward. Even if McDonald maintains his form and Brown returns to his previous form, Weideman could be the best of them.

We might need to rotate Weideman, Brown, McDonald and Jackson over the coming weeks and potentially give Gawn a rest. I know most Demonlanders would be against changing a winning formula, but we still need to experiment to determine our best team/structure.

Is it a stretch to say if Sam is not included in next week, it would be prudent for him to be looking elsewhere, as he is not valued enough? (perhaps this is a rhetorical question?) (perhaps that is a rhetorical question also?)

I think Sam is all class when he gets the ball in hand... I look at him and wonder about his urgency at the same time though.

If he is not a pressure forward, then what would be the metrics he needs to be hitting?

Given we are 6-0, if we change our structure as you suggest, and we keep winning, are we actually any smarter?

However, if we change our structure and we lose a game seemingly because of this change, we know that the original structure was better.

Therefore maybe stick with what we have until it breaks?

If he doesn't play next week he will leave to another club at the end of season and we will be stuck with a 30 year old Tom McDonald as our key forward in 2022.  Need I remind everyone of what McDonald did in 2019 and 2020.  

It would be a list management disaster.

I recall 1991 when Jakovich had to kick over 70 goals in the Reserves before he got a gig.

It's tough cookies at the moment, breaks here, brakes there...Weidemann was holding his marks last night - against weak opposition however. I like the lad, his time will come.

I would argue that losing a game in the regular season is worth it if we have a fitter and better side in September.

Just shows what a great position we are in when we have quite a few in the two's including the Weid that would normally be playing in the one's. Also it shows how good we are if he leaves for another club at end of year because he can't get a game. Normally they leave for a better team and opportunities to play in finals. It is what it is and I hope he stays as a 23 year old key forward don't come around that often.

If Weid leaves it would be a disaster.

Understand the need to play for the now but I doubt anyone believes T-Mac holds this form/stays injury free for the whole year.

He simply has to come in over the next week or two.

So matter of fact. He kicked 4 against a patchwork North reserves under a roof. If Brown and Tomald both kick 5 is he still an automatic in in your mind?
