WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN

Looks to have the head for it. I like him.

Thought the same thing both Phil and Jimmy were deadly with their kicking.

Dont be deceived by the kicking action. He actually drops the ball lower and closer to his foot thereby alleviating and minimising margin for error. He wont fudge many at all! I like what he brings, Pace, Agility, Poise, takes a great contested grab and kicks very well! Stay Tuned, some serious X Factor from what I've seen.

Most excited I have seen from you about a recruit but I am with you on this pick.

I just said it was an interesting kicking action, not that he cant kick.

I love this pick for us.  His upside is huge and looks a real excitement machine.  Chocco Williams will be on the case!

Fraser ROSMAN

Clubs: Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro

Position: Utility

Size: 194cm/84kg

Teams that may suit: Adelaide, Essendon, Melbourne

Bio: Rosman had a number of standout performances in the APS school boys competition for Wesley College last year, sneaky in for two games at the NAB League level with the Dragons. With untapped potential, Rosman could develop into a strong utility in the attacking half of the ground. He makes things happen and can catch the eye with his X-Factor and speed. He isn’t just a one trick pony given his endurance as well, marking overhead well when required. He can play deep as a tall or push up the ground to show off his athletic traits. Recruiters won’t forget some of his work in the pre-season and it was indicated when he earned a national combine invite.

Is it just me or does it seem like Yze might have had some influence on the type of player we were looking for this draft.

Not very Melbourne-like to draft good ball users with speed. Not one inside mid, messiah or ‘athlete’ with potential. Are they signposting a coaching transition?
Anyway, good to see needs being addressed and I look forward to a season where our players either, execute the game plan correctly or the plan is exposed for what it’s worth.

The bloke looks about 28!

is he really just a teenager?

Not so sure about that Demi. The need for outside run and kicking skills has seemed pretty obvious for years. We used our high draft picks to recruit inside bulls while our better flanker types, except for Salem, have been recruited (Melksham, Hibberd, KK, Langdon, etc).

Just getting the squad ready for when Goody gets the boot.

I love the name Rosman. I admit, I spend time searching out players with typical German names. I could name a Demon historical side of  Krauts who have played for the Demons. I'd like to add the name Rosman.Does anyone know of his family's origins? A Wesley boy, therefore cosmopolitan, the name, according to Google,  of Eastern  European Jewish descent. I love the highlights package, I am impressed - a high-marking left-foot wingman, just what this side needs.

Hands look great in his video, and that speed for a fella of his height was quite surprising.

Would love to know what position the footy department has in mind for him. A lighting fast 190+cm wingman, umm, yeah!

Welcome to the Dees Rosman family. Hope your boy has a blast at the Dees, and we can all see some success together.

Yep. Taylor seems to have a fascination for slow inside mids or midget small forwards, has bucked that trend this year thank god

Sorry but no chance. Jamarra is absolutely dominant and will be a very very good player. The total opposite to jack watts really

In the photo up top Fraser has his polo on inside out?  Hope he doesn't do that with his Match day Guernsey!!!

Probably  overwhelmed a little eh???

The sky is the limit for the Rosman!

I'd be very worried if someone was putting on a polo shirt inside out...

Just mirrored due to being a selfie - someone from the club should have flipped horizontally in photoshop

I wasn't really being serious or sarcastic, but have you actually watched this bloke play against men yet,Paddy McCartin was supposed to be better than Jack Watts,Charlie Curnow was supposed to be the next buddy he might never play again injuries who knows.

He looks like the Duke and Stef Martin’s love child.

Nah, I reckon the recruiters were working to a list of needs earlier than Yze appointment.  Might have added to the conversation, but don’t think he shaped it greatly.

Loved that era of footy cards!

Based on limited vision I think he is the most likely to make it out of all three recruits

I have serious reservations about the other two - just too small

We already have Pickett , Spargo , Bedford - not convinced we needed another two players of that size. Hope I'm wrong but really question the strategy of trading out of next years 1st round at this stage

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
