Adam Kingsley to be announced as Nth coach

ben buckley: announces north will undergo exhaustive process to identify and employ best candidate for senior coaching role

nek minnit: glenn archer announces adam kingsley as new north coach??!?

the amount of control the former #11 seems to have at that club is extraordinary

Couldn't be more IDGAF.

I have a couple of friends that are close to the admin at the club and in the past I have heard some of the names that are being looked at and chatted to. This year it has been very quiet and there has not been much information to pass on. Everything I have heard is really in the public domain.

Preuss and Hannan moving out are deals that MFC believe will be relatively easy to sort out and, as I understand it, will be simple deals standing alone.

I have heard that we are into Brown big time but that the situation at Norf has muddied the waters. 60/40 that we get him is what I have been told.

Phillips ahead of Isaac Smith is our preference, But a hard hand to pay to ensure we do not miss out on both.

Big Macs on the table and not a lot of interest.

Oliver is not going anywhere and nor is Brayshaw is what I have been told.

As I said, really only what is out there in public.

Nothing to back this up but I think there might be a surprise for the MFC with a relatively well known player wanting to come in the door. As I said, I have heard no whispers on this but over the last couple of years we have had some long term nurturing of opposition players pay off for uou and I would be surprised if we have not done a similar thing looking at this year.

I hope so.

So? It was obviously a very quick exhaustive process.

Any name in particular or just a hunch at this stage?

Good summary. Thanks. Extremely surprised and disappointed we havent worked on a mid age player to fill one of our weaknesses as in the Langdon deal.

Itโ€™s good to see GWS getting a taste of their own medicine in losing a player after only 2 years but I have to say I really hate the fact a player can move after 2 years and also nominates a club. I think itโ€™s completely irresponsible on the clubs side who is recruiting him and also shows the character of the player.

Itโ€™s the way it is all going, players need some freedom of movement but clubs need to be thinking of players as assets to use to win a flag. If a players hasnโ€™t signed a new contract with a year to run then look to move the asset for other assets that will help win a flag.

I donโ€™t disagree that players need freedom to move but not after 2 years.  Itโ€™s a joke

Indeed. The thread for self aggrandisement with little to hang a hat on. To be followed by back peddling or 'told you so' about the obvious in a week or two

Honestly either enjoy the fun rumours on this thread (which may or may not be true) but some people have a good record, or just donโ€™t come to the thread.
Youโ€™re not held with a gun to your head, if you donโ€™t care about it just donโ€™t bother coming here and give everyone else a break.

If we give up 23, how do we get Brown?

We might parlay pick 9 into 2 picks

Thank you for telling me what I can and can't do.

The posters with inside mail (as opposed to rehashed bigfooty or fb rumours) have not posted here, and are not likely to

My mail for those interested.

1. Ben brown is likely to be a dee, money isnโ€™t an issue with this deal itโ€™s agreed in principal. Weโ€™ve made our pitch now Ben brown is taking some time to consider his options but we are at the front of the que, despite less money because were a vic based finals contender.

2. We made an approach to Nathan Bassett about joining as our forwards coach but he declined.

3. the club is actively looking to get back into the top 10 of the draft. Have had a keen interest in finlay McRae as lord nev mentioned for some time

4. Clayton Oliver was unhappy. He spoke to the power brokers at the club and heโ€™s fine for now. Wouldnโ€™t wanna have a bad year next year though.

5. issac Smith is going to be a demon. And the hawks know it. It was 50/50 but Adam yze coming appears to have got him to favour joining Melbourne

6. Weโ€™ve also made an approach to Tom Phillips. Weโ€™d ideally like that to be a straight swap for t Mac. Not sure where that sits.

Can you clarify what you mean this?

Ah damn, that was one of the assistants I thought we had coming. Can cross that one off now then.

Yeah unfortunately re committed to the power but we were really keen

You can have the best assistants in the game, but if the coach doesnโ€™t listen to them they count for squat. Our biggest coaching change will rely on Goodwinโ€™s willingness to listen and be flexible in his coaching

What's the evidence he doesn't listen?

Seriously.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckmanโ€™s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipperโ€™s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0โ€“5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
