A doggies supporter on bigfooty posted on the MFC that we had very good word that we were interested in Nick Hind from the Saints.

Anyone know much about him? All I know is that he is very quick?

A mate of mine is good friends  with his father, I will try to get some info from him.

This is what the Saints website has to say about him Daz:

"Armed with explosive pace and a willingness to take the game on, mature-age recruit Nicholas Hind delighted Saints fans in the back half of Season 2019.

The Clunes native made his debut in Townsville the week after being flown over to China as a last-minute emergency, lining up for every game following the bye to put 11 goals to his name.

With the Saints’ small forward stocks given a boost in 2020 with the inclusion of Dan Butler and the return of Dean Kent from injury, Hind still managed to find a spot in the line-up following the season restart.

Hind spent time in the club’s scratch matches after two games at senior level, with a series of consistent performances up forward and through the midfield resulting in a return ahead of Round 8.

The livewire speedster was at his most impressive against Sydney, booting three eye-catching goals and playing a pivotal role in sparking St Kilda to its 53-point Pride Game victory at the Gabba.

Hind was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 54 in the 2018 National Draft."

I'm not being a smart [censored] here DD but are you legit?

Played cricket against him a couple of years ago, and he doesn't like a short ball much at all.

good fit for us though, good pace, endurance, line breaking, can find the goals

Yeah, my mate lives in Clunes and Hind's father owns the pub there.

What are you waiting for?? Go and have a froth or two and see what you can find out. It's your Demonly duty.

I am trying to work out the quaddie for today and it is bloody hard.

He caught my eye a bit this year actually. Doesn’t strike me as a natural footballer, but is very athletic and seems to just go for it and take it on.

Good pace and agility.  Nice kicking skills on both sides.  Went back with the flight.  Good highlights.

Dees and Saints have had a chat in the last day or two. Wasn't given a name, but was told a 'young, quick player'.

Saints want to chase Ben Brown so are trying to free up some space.

Well, I will be b--------. The bloke who says rumours are rubbish now brings his bat back to the crease, fixes the stumps and bails he knocked over.

If it is just a rumor and not fact then it will be quashed straight away

I find that very hard to believe with King, Marshall, Ryder and Membery

Marshall is a ruck. Ryder might retire. I wouldn't call Membrey a tall forward personally. I get where you're coming from, just what I've heard.

i'd give him a spot for a year if he was the last player on the market or if it meant moving on from Hunt, Hannan, ANB which all seems likely

He would work well with Jason Taylor.  Drafting and trading decisions are always better with Hind sight.

He's the sort of player we should be after. Not high production, but has pace, tackles and can do 2 or 3 things a game that create a score. Is older than you think .... 26.

Has ridiculous straight line speed but struggles to find enough ball and I am unclear what role he would play. Would not be against it based on low price and attributes but would be disappointed if we picked him up and did not recontract Hunt and Bedford. I would hope if we were talking to Saints we would target Sinclair or the other Phillips.

We won't be getting Smith, Hind and Phillips.  I'd say we will get one, maybe two at the absolute most.

Hind goes okay but I think I'd rather Smith or Phillips.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
