I heard a whisper that the Bombers are very keen on Tmac and that's where he's likely to land. not sure if that's been posted on here but the whisper was that he's had several chats with Rutten and they're keen on him at FBĀ

Maybe theirĀ departing chief pharmacist has left ā€œsomething specialā€ in the bottom drawer that will cure Tom’s mystery injury?

Ā

Whether TMac shows Ā what he has got depends on getting his body right. People forget he had turf toe , a debilitating injury. A serious cartilage tear that required surgery and a long recuperation and this year his ankle was not good. Clubs never tell the whole story and players carry a variety of injuries. He certainly looked overweight this year and his leg injuries limited him. Only time will tell if he come good but the message at MFC is that if he stays he will need to play down back if brown makes it to the club IMO.

Ironically if he does go and we are light for tall backs Oscar may get another contract!!!!

TMacĀ has started doing alotĀ of personal training already to get super fit again and shed some kilos.

Wherever he plays I’d say he isĀ desperate Ā to prove the doubters wrong.

Shame he didnt do it last preseason

That said unless we get a good swap or salary relief I would be happy to take the chance on him coming good

I understand all that so why play him if so injured. Also the fact that the club indicatingĀ Ā that he is available to moveĀ  sends a pretty strong message to Tom and his management that the club doesn't really think he will come good.

Demons players traded out in the last 5 years...

- Jeremy Howe

- Jimmy Toumpass

- Jack Fitzpatrick

- Lynden Dunn

- Jack Watts

- Dean Kent

- Jesse Hogan

- Dom Tyson

- Sam Frost

Ā

Really hard to argue that it's "so Melbourne" to trade out a player and then they become a star as literally only 1 player out of 9 have carried on and played decent consistent footy at their next clubs.Ā

Most of these players we got maximum value from both on the field and then in trade.

Can't argue with any of that however Frost played well for Hawthorn this year and Kent played finals for St Kilda as well getting near BOG against us in an early 2019 game.Ā

Time will tell if both players carve out good careers at their next clubs.

Potentially, or the club just simply has a chance to bring in a true full forward who has shown a consistent ability to kick goals and sees Tom (more so Tom's salary) as being redundant.Ā

Yes GC I understand the potential that Ben is a significant upgrade on Tom

He was told to put on weight last year.

If we can do a salary dump (Dons?/GWS?), that’s all I really care about. Take the money, and spend it on Big Ben Brown.

It's almost like Frost's year has been elevated because he wasn't horrible and in fact had good games where he defended well.

He was no better than he's been at Melbourne.Ā  Hawthorn got what they paid for, i.e. the good the bad and the ugly.

Kent was Kent.Ā  He was aĀ fringe player at Melbourne and he's a fringe player at St Kilda.

Why would they do that?

I HAVE MET TOM AND STOOD BESIDE HIM AT THE airport in Bali in 2018

He was a seriously huge being and very nice. My view would be if I were Tom I would have resisted the order to gain weight.

More dumb decisions from the FD

Has this been substantiated DZ or has it just become folklore?

Doesn’t make any sense to me after knee and ankle injuriesĀ

It’s not needed for Brown. It’s needed to re-signĀ Clarry and others etc.Ā

Maybe fair, but would you want T Mac as a defender on 700k a year with Frost-esque decision making? I wouldn't.Ā

Frost-esque? Frosty was becoming ice-cool, thoughtful and capable. Just what on-ground experience can bring.

We sacrificed this advantage to our onfield successes to play the 'Oh-Must We' half of the TMac siblings. I'd still have him (Frost) at CHB for us, even though it is regarded as abstract by many, and is impossible, now that he has been traded to critical and needy observers and analyses at Whoreform where, in his first sojourn season in the new jumper was regarded as a member of their top ten players.

T Mac certainly didn't look like he needed to put on weight

So you are suggesting the weight gain was a good idea

The second round pick we got for Frosty will likely secure us Ben Brown. a major improvement to our list overall.

I loved Frosty's heart but he was a liability down back, the cause of more heart attacks amongst the dees faithful that any other player i can think of.

That’s great we can get Brown, without needing to offload TMac first. Gotta get it done to re-sign the others then.

When the Ox did his 3rd knee he was told to put on weight, that seemed to work pretty well.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facingĀ Ā intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.Ā

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’sĀ performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.
