Lachie Hunter carved up the Demons 5-6 weeks ago and can really play. I think you could play him on other wing, massive upgrade on what we have today, smart player with good skills.

Would have to do more than pick 23, but at 25yo in his prime!

Brisbane won three flags with Akermanis and Pike in the team.

Successful clubs get it right from the board, to the CEO, to the footy manager, coach, recruitment, List management, development, player welfare, and the rest!

I look at the Demons and go we’re soft in a few spots On the field, but get some upgrades and improvement in what we have on the list, and we can go close!

Backline pretty solid, just missing the person to close down the opposition smalls, unless Lockhart steps up.

Mids, lots of talent just use it properly between, Max, Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes, Sparrow, Jackson, & Langdon. Missing another wingman, Polec or Hunter would fit the bill, good clubs can manage difficult players!

Forwards, Weideman, Jackson and one of TMac or Petty to step up - still like to add a Brown, Mihocek, or Cameron Into the mix, Picket, Fritsch are locks, up to Spargo to step up and Melksham to play like 2018 or move on. Hunt just needs to lift his pressure and consistency. So feels like a Higgins from a Tigers would be a big help.

We have star power in Petracca, Oliver, May & Gawn, It’s probably that one power forward and a classy winger plus general improvement and we’re getting close!

Off the field, Goodwin needs a strategist that he will listen to and recruiting Yze looks great, also he had great skills and so did the Hawks for many years, so if he can lift the Demons 5-10% In disposal that would be huge!

Must hang onto Burgess, his impact will be even greater over longer game times.

Perhaps got off topic in responding to comments re character in prior post.
Add in Lachie Hunter played in a flag, won Dogs B&F 2018 and was VC, so can’t be all bad.
Would be a big addition to Demons.

Lachie Hunter is one of the best wingmen in the competition and I thought he was very stiff to miss the 40 man AA squad.    He certainly addresses one of the key areas (outside run) the club has identified along with a KPF.  If Merrett isn't a chance of moving this year than Lachie Hunter is a more than adequate alternative.

It's a very big IF the Bulldogs want to trade him and Beveridge has already poured cold water on that, but....

  • The Bulldogs hinted that they would trade aggressively to address list deficiencies (and arguably they could more easily find a replacement on the wing than conjure up another KPP).
  • There's also rumours that due to the problems from earlier in the year that either Lachie goes or the Dogs may have some serious issues with the rest of the playing group.
  • He's still under contract for two more years and apparently isn't keen to leave the kennel.
  • If he's going to be traded then you need to convince him and his manager to come to the Dees, but at the same time ensuring that whatever the off-field issues have been addressed and don't destabilise our own playing group.
  • Besides all that it would be how you could fit Hunter and a KPF (like a Ben Brown) into the salary cap and keep enough in kitty to avoid a raid on Clayton Oliver.

Considering all that it seems a long shot, but one no doubt the club will at  least consider.   Playing wise at least he's an ideal fit for us.

Am hearing his Mad Monday antics on the GC might hasten a possible exit from the doggies. The extent of what a few of them got up to (Bailey Smith, Hunter, Daniel amongst them) ranges from outrageous to mildly expected but given Hunter’s already rocky relationship with the Dogs you would think trade talk will ramp up.

I posted throughout the year when talking about midfield/wing mix and bought him up as the perfect type of player we need. Big questions marks off field though.

I’m throwing the kitchen sink at Hunter. He has strong ties to Dogs through his Dad (father-son Pick) but if we offered a 5-year deal, his manager might take the call and get a response. 200-1 chance but you can only ask the question !!!

I'm guessing you guys haven't heard the rumours flying around regarding Hunter Bailey Smith playing up in the hub. Hunter might be gettable if true, but would you want someone who has behaviour issues?

English needs a friend to help out in the ruck.

Can't even see any rumors on the Bulldogs Bigfooty page, so not sure where they're circulating?

There's a thread about it in the Scandals & Rumours Board on Bigfooty.  Warning:  It's Bigfooty.

With the need for a wingman I think it would be worth having a look at Lachie Hunter. He's still only 25 years old and is a best and fairest winner at the Dogs. Runs all day, has good foot skills and would be a perfect complement to our plethora of inside mids. He would cost a fair bit but I think he would completely change our team for the better. He had a couple of indiscretions at the Dogs and they may be willing to let him go for the right price.

Too rich for us I would think; he is a ripper though...

Does the idea come with any "You've got mail" weight, Simon??

Seriously can people think before they create a new topic!

We don't need a new topic for every single player that would be good at the mfc.

Clearly this is your first trade period on Demonland.  If a player even looks in our direction he gets a thread.

Ahahahaha. The 'new thread' gatekeeper. We definitely need a dozen new threads every time we lose though.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
