Yze????? You must be joking . Were you guys even alive when he was playing???? Another flash in the pan loser.

Whoa there big fella, are you calling me a loser?! I don't think I even know you.

Yes, and that Robbie Flower was a real dud too

Agreed. This team has had some great players and yes , Flower and Yze had some great moments but success is judged on premierships in my view and I’m entitled to an opinion.

Yes Aaron was great fun to watch.

Yze was a match winner at his best. His years under Clarkson can only bring valuable insights. Personally I don’t care if we get him or not. Our head coach has a lot to learn and he best get started soon

No premiership since 1964. The players should be ashamed of themselves.

I spoke to Petracca not long ago actually, he said he was ashamed of himself for not winning the 1972 flag.

Sure you are sweetheart.

Excited about Yze coming but being an assistant is very different to being the head guy. It’s more of a team manager position these days.

Hopefully he can assist Goody and the players in being successful next year

Any updates on this?

Could potentially be another week or two before anything official is announced. Contract details etc are still being sorted out apparently.

I rarely, rarely mute anyone because even cranky or unreliable people can sometimes contribute.

So if it turns out that one day Coq au vin does say anything fun, informative or in any way not just a tent-fart, I'm relying on the community to quote it.  Thanks in advance.

Wait... where's the mute button gone?  Did we lose it in the software update?  Noooooo.

Getting in true Melbourne people - really good ones from all reports too - is the best result.

I think Yze would thus have an inherent ruthless edge that the club wants. True investment.

Hope he pulls his socks up, along with everyone else's.

Stats don’t tell the whole story. How many premierships did we win with him in the team?

Correct, they don’t tell the whole story, but stats do tell a lot of the story. Watching him play and the impact he had tells the rest.

I guess we have had no good players since 64 then, according to your premierships will only make you a good player.

i could list the many, many players from all clubs who are out and out stars that haven’t won a flag, but I guess then they are no good either?

He didn’t win any in seasons he’s been in either. Let’s hope that’s still to come.

I didn’t say Yze was no good. I loved watching him play. His last game with his family in the stands was wonderful.

“Another flash in the pan loser”.... seems pretty clear cut to me.

Nope. I’m just disappointed in all the talented players that we’ve had and no premiership since 1964. That’s what makes them all losers in a sense. It’s a team not an individual event.

Yea, mate, this is an MFC forum. Literally everybody here is disappointed. Doesn’t excuse spouting off with rude hyperbole and it doesn’t give in depth meaning to  grand, sweeping statements. Temperance, fella.

OK fair enough. So what’s the answer to all our woes?

One of the all time dumbest arguments I've ever seen.

Yes, you are.

But when your opinion is ridiculous, be prepared to cop flak for it.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.
