I remember seeing Ablett live as a kid. I remember being shocked at the size of his legs. So thick. So strong. Maybe that's why he didn't play in a premiership team...? In fact, maybe that explains why all those players can't be considered 'great.' Held back by leg girth. Now that I think of it, Lockett's legs were just outrageously big....

Whaddya think, Coq?

Ablett was the greatest player I ever saw. I withdraw all foolish comments.

Based on corrections in this and other threads, and a quick check of an Albanian dictionary, I would like to confirm a crucial fact -

It's Y'ze, not Yze.

So it’s pronounced “Why-Zee”?

How can this peanut be allowed to continue spamming this site and It’s posters?

Very good McQueen, I fully support your post - except there's no apostrophe in 'its' as a possessive article.

You missed the unnecessary capitalisation..... ?

Interesting? NOT.

Now that this thread has turned to official unmitigated garbage I'll bother to note that I wrote 'interneting' as opposed to 'interesting'. It's not interesting at all. This thread or a particular poster should be culled.

It’s a full time job keeping on top of iOS spellcheck errors, fella’s.

Good pick up. My defence? I was lying in bed about to kip. Otherwise you got me.

PS: McQueen's done it again with "fella's" but it's way too pedantic even for me to go at him again. This thread has been waylaid far too much thanks to the Coq Tete.

Excellent point Steve.

Over the years, some of my best smut has been deleted and yet the above dull rubbish continues to clog and derail a thread.

But why on earth would Goodwin take any more notice of him that he has with other assistants.

Two time premiership player - I know what I'm doing.?

What's this story about Goodwin ever taking any input from assistants.  I know directly from Brendan McCartney that they had a close and fruitful relationship.  When Macca left everything he said was positive about Goodwin.

We’ve accepted mediocrity for far too long in all departments. I don’t want people back who’ve participated in that mediocrity in whatever role: player, coach or any administrative role.

We missed out on Voss. Tried hard to get him to move. But he is staying with Port

Does the attention move to Yze now??

I'd say we wanted Yze, Voss and Leppitsch. Reckon we'll get at least one of them.

Not sure we want/need both Voss and Richardson? Starts to get a bit top heavy I would have thought.

Obviously, Richardson isn't currently a line coach, but I wonder what he'd think of taking on the role of Development coach as well as overseeing coaching? He did start as a development coach.

With reduced soft cap to go around, if we could get 5 line coaches to take care of our needs that'd be great.

Forward / Match Day Strategy & Opposition (his role in 2020 at Hawthorn) - Adem Yze

Midfield - Adam Kingsley / Matthew Knights

Back - Leppitsch (still hopeful ;) )

Ruck - Greg Stafford (or someone new...)

Development & Director of Coaching - Alan Richardson

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
