Adem Yze one of our all time favourites, Bring It On............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just showed my wife some highlights videos of Yze and she quickly noted, "Oh, he is in Fritsch's spot" because of all the close-to-the boundary 40-out beauties Yze was slotting.

A theory is born - Yze is coming to Melbourne specifically to sort out Fritsch's kicking.

Worth noting - in his third season Yze kick 9.16, so he knows how to miss and knows how to correct the problem.

Leppitsch would be a great get but I’m sure wouldn’t be cheap. Yze is highly rated and will have to be renumerated accordingly. Burgess would be on top dollar. Goodwin, Richo, Mahoney and the rest.

Genuine question. How do we cut costs to fit under the cap and at the same time afford to pay all of the above?

There are two potential answers to this question.

1) having a smaller coaching staff will help bring down overall running costs.

2) I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL provides greater flexibility to the soft cap for 2021. This would enable us to go after 2 or 3 key assistants, at the same time as cutting superfluous staff and running a leaner machine.

The AFL needs clubs to perform next year, otherwise membership bases with kick a hole through the balance sheets of clubs and the AFL will have a larger problem on its hands with a new TV deal on the horizon.

I was told couple of weeks ago that the Club is in advanced discussions with Yze and are being listened to by Leppitsch.

My source said that Yze is very likely and if Leppitsch decides to continue in Footy, it will be with the Dees.

Great news, thanks for the heads up.

Wasn Leppitsch part of the tigers rise? Yze and Leppa would be huge gets.

Very exciting.

There’s a guy in a Facebook group I follow claiming this scoop as his own.

Haha there’s always one, which group mate?

I hope Yze never becomes head coach at the MFC, but instead joins another club as head coach AFTER helping Goodwin become a premiership coach

IE I hope 2021 isn't so much of a  failure that Yze becomes an interim coach. A 2022 finals series is a long way away.

Apart from the romanticism of being a favourite ex player what is he going to bring?

Please no guess work or urban myths...

Can someone tell us his skill set as a coach and if he is the best man for the job?

I couldn't care less that he is an ex player, one of your favourites.

I also know he coached at Hawthorn with Clarko...

What does he bring?

Solid information please...

Was credited with vastly improving the Hawks' kicking skills while in charge of that area.

Worked his way up to being match day/strategy.

Kicking skills and strategy. Pretty perfect for us.

While we're on the topic of Leppitsch ... Tiger fans I know credit the Tigers' turnaround to Leppitsch rather than any "road to Damascus" moment by Hardwick.

I suppose the fact that Hawks refused to let him out of contract last year when we were chasing his hard speaks volumes of how good they think he is.
Plenty of top quality coaches have come out of the Hawks camp under Clarkson. I hope Yze can be added to that list.

He certainly can’t do worse than our current crop.

What exactly has Mahoney done wrong? Genuine question.

What has he done right? Losing culture bar 1 yr since the Neeld days when he was involved.
paid overs for Lever, Tomlinson, May, let Frost , Kent etc go. ....

leppitsch on the radio last nite said that he was stepping away from football entirely for the time being

Wouldn't be the first time that has meant coming to the Demons!

Basically, what @Lord Nev said.  From kicking/goalkicking specialist, to versatile line coach, to match day strategy.

Is a legitimately desirable target.

https://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/710789/yze-promoted-to-assistant-coach

"Yze played a key role in harnessing the Hawthorn players' elite kicking skills as they developed into the AFL's deadliest team in front of goal over the past two seasons.  Since 2010, the team's accuracy has soared from 48 per cent to 57.1 per cent."

https://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/227910/adem-yze

"Yze was promoted to Assistant Coach at the end of 2014 after establishing himself as a respected teacher at Hawthorn.  ... After four years as a line coach, Yze shifts into the role of 'Head of Match Day Strategy & Opposition' in 2019."

Let Frost and Kent go..... oh the horror ??‍♂️
May was close to the best full back in the comp this year and was worth every penny

Always loved Adem. One of my all-time favourite players. But I missed a bunch of football in the mid-2000s. Curious what prompted his move to the forward-line and if it was accepted by the supporter-base at the time and ultimately considered successful?

Kent is better than ANB, Spargo, Hannan, Hunt all similar types.
Mahoney has produced zero.

Would he get a job at one of the top clubs as footy ops / GM ?

zero chance.
get rid of him.

I imagine he is coming to eat Goodwin’s lunch and more.

smells a bit like ratten coming in as assistant to richardson last year at the aints; you just knew that if richo didn't deliver the good in the first half of the year ratts would get a go in 2020 and beyond

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
