He played a lone hand up forward and has shown enough to suggest he's going to be important part of our future once we find him a partner in crime.

I agree 100% Joeboy. Well done.  
 

“Weid - up then down” was my assessment.  He got his chance finally after we were screaming for his inclusion. Showed enough in first few games to show his marking and goalkicking and even to provide a contest.  But his last 5 games were soft.  I went to the Giants and Bombers games and he was pushed off the footy and simply dropped his head.  He jogged around and refused to do the tough things. His intensity is lacking and seems like a nice boy playing a mans game. Cannot believe his grandfather was a beast.    I just want to shake him and get him to run through brick walls again and again. 

Sorry but I will continue to be critical of Lever when I see comments like yours.

He played like a 10-15 player, a solid contributor but hardly came close to justifying his salary. Just about every team in the competition has a player who does their role as well as Lever and most of them are probably on half his salary. 

I've been critical of Weideman and he ended the season poorly but you have ignored his work prior to that while overstating Brown's due to the time of the season they played their good football respectively.

Pretty good effort with the rest of it.

Very good reading Joeboy, and nice work all season. I'm with SONS on Weideman though, he wasn't a major disappointment, maybe a minor one at worst. I didn't have massive expectations that he'd dominate this season, but he did enough to think that he should become a reasonable player pretty soon. His success will depend on learning to hit the pack at the right time, at the moment I reckon he's going up too early, and hanging his arms up there in the air to be spoiled far too easily. Another genuine key forward would help him no end.

I thought Weid did more over the year than your assessment. I do think he needs another physical presence to give him space up forward. In my opinion, Jackson gave him that while  he played and i think that is a partnership that shows promise. Mcdonald gave him some help while I think Brown is a different type again.

What exactly is a pressure act?

T Mac has elite endurance so could chase all day but has no speed or agility. The opposition dance around him like a witches hat.

Brown played much better than Tom with limited opportunities.   Tom should have been dropped early in 2019...his form was horrible.  It took him over 3/4 of a season before he had one good game and got promptly injured during that game.

Fast forward to 2020 and he was almost a liability for over another half a season.  Again he should have been dropped multiple times. The coach stuck with him for nearly 2 years where he barely warranted a game.  Nothing McDonald has done over that period has been of AFL standard.  Might sound harsh but my eyes tell me he has been awful, don't need to look at stats to confirm this! I really hope he gets an offer from another club, even if we have to pay a portion of it.  No way he is getting back to his best, looks completely shot as an AFL player.

Happier to play BOTH Jackson and Brown , Brown having shown versatility in last two games.

The upside of McDonald was much better than Brown, we were never going to be able to compete and be a threat this season unless McDonald recaptured his 2018 form. We know the answer now but I have no issue with the club waiting to find out. His 6 goals against Carlton in 2019 was a reminder of what he could do when on song.

I agree that we should move McDonald on now but I don't have an issue with Goodwin keeping Brown out of the team this year. Brown did little to impress in his first 3 games.

Won't get a point if he doesn't get closer. I was using Tmac as an example because he is also poor at it. Mitch Brown had 0 on the weekend.

His 6 goal game against Carlton took well over 3/4 of the season....he was an absolute liability up until that stage.  No doubting his best was good enough prior to these last few seasons.  Brown was dropped after his 1st game....i don't believe he has nearly had the same run of underperforming the Macca was given.  Brown is 10x the player Tom is atm. We persisted with Tom for far too long.  We have struggled to connect forward of centre for a long time, Tom is the main reason for that.  Goody picked him though, i blame him more.

I understand what you are saying but at the end of the day if Mitch Brown is playing for us, we aren't threatening anyone in the finals. It is hard to see on camera but I noticed multiple times that he was clogging up leading lanes in the forward 50. It is interesting how poorly Weideman played when Brown was in the team.

McDonald's drop in form has hurt us more than any other factor.

Lever - still grossley overpaid

Such questions aren’t asked enough. Like contested possession, outside run, game plan, prior opportunity, sling tackle. They all mean different things for different people. One man’s pressure act is I’m sure another man’s freedom fighter.

Wiederman is a very poor footballer with little or no intensity

He cannot get near the ball

Looking to me like a bust

good post. I agree with all of it. I probably would've been harsher on Pickett but I thought Weideman had an ok season considering the quality of our forward entries.
