Brown and smith are coming, hind I think will as well, and there are two other players who’d walk into our best 22 that haven’t been mentioned on here that I’ve been asked not to name. But I’m sure demonlanders won’t complain when the names are revealed.

we’re desperate to get young macrae through the door.

looking at a similar restructure to our list as the saints had last year introducing a lot of speed to their side

Higgins??

Finlay his brother through the draft. I made the same mistake in another thread.

Higgins over Tippa for me

If Higgins is available this year we should be interested IMO. I think he's a pretty good small forward.

As to Billings, I do not rate him as highly as others, and certainly not highly enough to trade Brayshaw for.

Big yes to Jack Higgins. He would be a walk up start in any team’s best 22 aside from Richmond who prefer Castagna, Lambert, Bolton and Rioli.

We saw how valuable the discarded Butler was for the Saints this season. I rate Higgins even higher. Would be rapt to see him in the red and blue.

A forwardline of Brown, Weideman, Jackson, Fritsch, Higgins, Broad, Petracca, Harmes, Viney and Pickett is not too shabby.

thank you SONS.

I would prefer Higgins over Brown or Smith anyday.

higgins has been one of my faves since he came on to the scene.. happy go lucky, gives his all. SIGN HIM UP. i'll be [censored] if he ends up anywhere else. happy to lose hunt, macs, hannan, preuss, etc and only get brown, smith and higgins.

Billing’s for Brayshaw does not really make sense to me. Yes he is more outside, a bit quicker and a bit better kick but he doesn’t really clearly solve something for us. His top level form is as inconsistent as Brayshaw and I am unclear on what role he would play.

With Higgins as well what is he solving? He is not a pressure forward but he is smart half forward with reasonable speed but many tricks. Certainly an upgrade on our forward line and best 22 I guess but not one I would expect us to be looking at for what I would suggest he would cost.

Are we looking to improve our quality and connection into 50 I get it but would not necessarily be where I would focus.

I wouldn't do Brayshaw for Billings. The former is a much better player. Sure, Billings had a better 2020, but it would take more than Billings to make me trade Gus.

Uh oh, there's those rose coloured glasses again, A F!!!

Higgins has some serious footy smarts.  I know he has was out of the side this season late but I would be surprised if the Tigers traded him under contract.

Looks a future star and just a natural footballer to me.  I would love him at the Dees but part of me thinks if they did offer him up for trade maybe they might know something we don't.

Broad???

Where is Kozzzy???

Nah. Billings has still not achieved anything. Angus has only had one good season, but it was a far superior season to anything Billings has put together.

Playing Brayshaw in the midfield as q midfielder would be really nice and will do wonders for our set up.

Looking forward to seeing what Yze implements there.

I think you’ve answered your own question.

He’s an upgrade on what we currently have and that helps us improve. Melksham played all year and delivered absolutely zip, Higgins can slot straight into his spot and if he contributes every second game we are miles ahead.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
