This talk of Adam Saad for pick 7 must surely be posturing.

If we got Michael Hibberd for pick 30 and Melksham for around the same, how the hell is Saad worth pick 7?

Mental isn’t it? Pick 7 for a flashy HBF...? The games gone mental.

Saad's better that Hibbo and not coming off a missed year. His value is around 14-20. Carlton should split the pick 7 and eventually Essendon will have to accept a later pick. But for now the silly stuff continues.

Dodoro isn't actually as bad as people think. The only time he really dug his heels in was for Paddy Ryder and history will show Ryder was probably worth digging his heels in for.

He turned down a deal on Daniher but it would've been brave to accept losing him before trying everything to keep him.

A flashy half back who has never even managed to hit 19 possessions per game in any season .  Yes its mental alright.

Dododo losing more of his ‘mind’ with advancing age, that and the massive superiority complex........

i wonder if egg-smith is looking for opportunity at the top level, stuck behind many at tigerland, along with higgins/aarts

maybe tom langdon to join his brother too?

Yep. I wasn’t being sarcastic btw, pick 7 would be nuts.

Every time ET posts in here I get excited, thinking he's about to post his next big scoop. But to no avail.

I wonder what it would take to prize Devon Smith out of Essendon. Probably too much.

Essendon think Saad is worth more than pick 7 but Dunkley is only worth a late first. They’re all insane

this time next year im telling ya, i can see us making a big play for tippa as well as josh kelly/zerrett

No idea if these are two of the guys Dr EvIl is talking about but a mate told me today that we're interested in Ed Richards and Jack Billings.

No idea what that means in terms of likelyhood of getting them, but apparently they're two players we'd like to get across if we can.

i played with sauce and i gotta say he didn't stand out during his draft year, hasn't really dominated a game yet and probably lucky to not get dropped more often, hes been tried at HB, wing and small forward (giving me poor mans hunt vibes and i dont like hunt), surprised he went as high as he did (i think the name helped a lot) and i would probably steer clear, theres better alternatives out there.

Interesting. Billing’s crosses my mind but it’d mean parting ways with a first rounder. Given our supposed interest in Finna Macrae it would mean Brayshaw would have to go you’d think?

Crouch to Saints rules out a straight swap too I’d suspect.

No clue how they'd get it done or anything but yes. a first rounder seems about right and he'd certainly improve the team

Richards would be handy on a half forward flank and an upgrade on Melksham IMO.

Not BIllings' biggest fan, but another lefty with good ball use.

This is exactly what we should be doing, still early to mid 20's who can apply pressure, tackle and kick goals.

Ed Richards would be handy and maybe he is gettable. Contracted next year but he might be after a change. He moves well but doesn't get that much of it and I suppose he hasn't really improved that much in his 3 years in the system. I'd take him - could go ok on the wing.

Couldn't see the Saints parting with Jack Billings. Would demand good coin too.

Can we keep the thread on track by not baiting each other?

Be interested to hear whether those two names @Dr evil alluded to are the same two names @Patches O’houlihan has heard.

Simple philosophy really. Everything they sell is pure gold and what they buy is pure rubbish. That is if you measure it by the demand or offer.

Billings would be the perfect outside tonic that we are desperate for. Like @Pulp Fritschon said though, can't see the saints parting away with Billings. They'd want a first round pick.

Richards is an interesting one. Played half back in his under 18s year and was pretty impressive but the doggies have played him as a half forward flank.

Brown and smith are coming, hind I think will as well, and there are two other players who’d walk into our best 22 that haven’t been mentioned on here that I’ve been asked not to name. But I’m sure demonlanders won’t complain when the names are revealed.

we’re desperate to get young macrae through the door.

looking at a similar restructure to our list as the saints had last year introducing a lot of speed to their side

Man I hope you're legit! haha

Billings is an interesting one. I know Roos really rated him and I think said we might have taken him pick 2 traded for Tyson/Salem. He had his worst year, played fwd a lot and only kicked 11 goals.  he was good last year though, averaging 26 touches.  he is smack bang in his prime but can't get that consistency.  maybe a move would be good for him.

worth a first rounded though after this year? maybe a late 1st rounder.

Still think the right play is to grab Tom Phillips. Would walk into our best 22 on the wing and is a good age bracket to give 6-7 years.  A three year contract deal and offering our 2021 2nd round pick to the Pies gets it done.  Makes sense to the Pies to free up salary room for their other priorities.

Would you do Brayshaw for Billings?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
