Yeah I remember the Hoges outburst. Definitely something to it all, think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle though, not sure Hoges is the most reputable source, especially on twitter.

I'm not sticking up for Morris, all I was saying is that he obviously has connections at MFC.

isn't the biggest knock on treloar his disposal? + im sick of us trying to sign players and repurpose them, particularly on the wing. if we want a wingman get phillips

It is, though Phillips is hardly the greatest kick either. Seems that over the last 5 years Phillips has a disposal efficiency of about 71.5% and Treloars is a tick over 68%, hardly polls apart. If we can land Treloar we should take it. Don't get me wrong, would be happy with Phillips, but would be happier with Treloar.

when u put it like that its hard to argue, but if the difference is that minor and we know phillips avg25 touches when he played a full year on the wing, i'd take him to save budget for clarry, trac, gawn, salo

Ethan? do you mean legendary news breaker @Ethan Tremblay

Hola. I’m hearing lots of whispers, will break some news soon.

I really didnt want to offer him a fat three year contract, but I was salivating at the thought of a quick fix to our biggest hole for 2021.

I hope we have something else lined up for the wing. I dont want to see vandenBerg plugging that position again.

I'll be disappointed if he goes to the Cats.

Don't be disappointed, I won't be.

I think Brown is the big fish atm and if we get him we have done well.

Smith is a little aging fish and old fish can be very smelly and you don't want them hanging around smelling up the place for 3 years.

I think we can find younger better fish than Smith.

Love you ET, but make sure that you break news and not wind.

Only thing I like re: Smith is that we get him for free.  Yes, it's being mooted that we've offered him three years, but I think he would see out most of that contract and, outside a spot on the list, we haven't given up anything to get him.

And while I wouldn't say no to Phillips, and I'm lukewarm to Polec, we would need to get a trade done to get them (not to mention the expensive contract Polec is on) and I'm not sure we have the picks to do it.

Having said that, we will get something for Preuss and if we can flick Tom McDonald then we might get something half decent for him as well, so that might help us land someone else if Smith goes Geelong.

Im callin it we will miss out on Smith but Brown still possible Or Vice versa probably the former if ya all can work that out!?

As I understand the way it has evolved, The MFC have been talking with Smith off and on for some time with a view to looking at getting him in the door at this time. Talking progressed to negotiations and an outline of a deal had generally been agreed. It is on the table but as the discussion progressed other opportunities in the market opened up as teams began to finish their seasons and player/club positions gained a bit more clarity. I do not think the MFC want to, at this stage add any sweetener to the pot for Smith.

the market has also changed for Smith with Geelong looking hard at framing a deal and Hawthorn also wanting to do the best to retain him.

The market for both parties has evolved and it is not finished.

I did hear a couple of player names, Phillips being one, But I do not want to name them at the moment as the information was flimsy at best, and I have seen the beating the Doc is taking and, to be honest, I do not have the time or the inclination to defend myself every other post.

Sometimes things for free aren't worth the price.

I think I have morphed into a philosopher.

Great stuff mate.

When I read this, I think of Adam Treloar, but could other name that hasn't been mentioned.

Cheers @CHF

Barney - Just Hook It to My Veins! - Trade rumours just hook it to my veins

Looking at that photo the first questions that came to mind were where is Barney’s elbow and at what point does his hand start/end

My sources are not prepared to disclose this information

Well that's slightly disappointing... but there are other fish for us to potentially catch in the AFL sea.

Plenty to still play out.

Great news Let him go to the Bellarine Old peoples home

Lets chase a better value option in Phillips

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
