layzie 34,528 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Yeah I reckon Lockhart would be primed for the matchup with Papley. Would be a decent feather in the cap if he can hold him to a couple or less. 1
Stein9193 129 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 They are just the stupidest and simplistic comments and don't contribute anything. Saying we need to have full stadiums and not even suggest how to do it or why it is a good idea. 1
Young Blood 2,642 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I hope Rivers retains his spot. I feel like he's an upgrade playing what seems a similar role to Harmes as a high half back. I would even have Wagner ahead of Harmes. He was fumbly at times in his first game back but I prefer his ball use and decision making to Harmes this year. Happy for James to build some form in the practice games but he has been consistantly poor this year. Also please to Tmac. I prefer Brown as a mobile high forward and with Bayley coming back I think its a good balance. For me: Out: Hannan, Hibberd (or Omac) In: Fritsch, Lockhart

Is this weekly article really that accurate as to who we choose to bring in? 1

It has been pretty close most weeks. And sometimes it is pretty unequivocal about some selections For example i have no doubt at all Fritter will play based n these comments: 'Bayley Fritsch was omitted from last week’s team after arriving late to training, but he should slot straight back into the forward line. The crafty left footer was dominant in Melbourne’s practice match against the Pies on Friday and has a lot to offer at AFL level.' Not every player mentioned comes in of course but i reckon every player who has come in is has been mentioned in it. As an example Omac was not mentioned at all until last weeks article. Enough of a correlation for me to assume Smith is no chance this week. Maybe not Bennell either, but he is in the photo for the article...... Edited September 1, 2020 by binman
Laughing Goat 308 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Out: Hannan, Pickett, Tomlinson In: ANB, Lockart, Hunt

I liked the idea of Smith coming in for him but that doesn't sound likely. It does sound likely however that Lockhart will come back in and would have the mongrel to harass and niggle Papley. it would be a fun match up to watch actually. You probably have to accept he will kick a couple of goals but if we can keep him to two that's a win as really he is their only regular goal kicking threat. He would be way too smart for Smith 'bin'... I guess Lockhart gets the task as we don't really have anyone else unless May does the job. 2

Roger Mellie 4,205 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Out: Gawn (managed) O'Mac (omitted/no match-up) Hibberd (Inj) AVB (managed) In: Preuss, Lockhart, Harmes, Fritsch I just cannot see any reason to want Gawn and his dodgy knee front up for 3 games in 11 days. We could go further and rest Pickett for Bedford or ANB, even though ANB makes me nervous 1
Docs Demons 1,810 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 You rest Gawn after just the one game in a little while and you could lose to Swans which may finish our season. If Maxy is any where near fit you play him. Full Stop. 3

Maybe, if the rest is necessary, it will come in the Fremantle game 4 days after the Sydney game. 1

To be generous towards the original poster, social distancing is rubbish in the sense that it’s a rubbish thing to have to do. I don’t think too many people enjoy it’s necessity. But “necessity” is the operative word here. 1
dee-tox 4,835 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 (edited) Is young Blakey (195cm) played as a tall forward/midfielder? If so, the Swannies have Reid and sometimes Sinclair as tall forwards plus McCartin? Maybe there is a job for OMac? Edited September 1, 2020 by dee-tox

It should have been called "physical distancing" from the outset. The last thing we need at the moment is for people to be socially apart when you can connect via technology, such as phones, social media and even Demonland. I don't like the requirement for "social distancing" but I'm 100% on board the obligation to do so. The science is clear, confronting and compelling. 3
