Prepare yourselves for the return of Nibbler.

Out - VDB, Hannan

In - ANB, Fritsch

Id also look at replacing the likes of Jones, Pickett and OMac with Harmes or Bennell, Hunt and Smith.

Edit: forgot Lockhart, also a chance to replace OMac if Swans are small.

Will everyone forget about Smith, he is no good, tell me when he ever played a good game, the guy is a delist at year's end.

Body of work across season / career tells the following can’t compete at the required level:

Wagner
Hannan

Oscar

Brown

Drop them.

Pickett / Jones / Vanders on thin ice.

Bring in:

Fritta

Bennell

Tmac

Harmes.

You have no idea, Wagner was great tonight, brown run all day, I love Tmac but he has lost his mobility, his knee and big toe are shot.

What will probably happen:

In: Fritsch, Lockhart

Out: Oscar, Brown

What id like;

In: Fritsch, Lockhart, Harmes

Out: Oscar, Jones, Hannan

That’s pretty much what I would go with it think. 3 changes and all three who played didn’t do enough, Fritsch kicked his goals and sounded good, I think it could be between Nev and Lockhart, Harmes for Jones and give Harmes the midfield minutes Jonesy has been getting.

Pickett seems overawed and gets few possessions and has little idea of what to do ball in hand - replace with Hunt.

Harmes to replace Hannan.

Spargo has lost his Sparko, replace with Bennell.

Yes l think we are wasting Hunt. His speed would test Sydney on the HFF for Kosie. Hunts experience would be handy as we move towards finals time. Oscar also is undervalued by many on here......should be retained IMHO.

Jones -> Harmes

Pickett -> ANB/Bedford/Hunt

Hannan -> Fritsch

OMac -> Lockhart

Pickett just needs to freshen up a little for me. Give him two weeks off and get some of his energy and confidence back. OMac not needed against Sydney's forwardline, and he was poor. Jones and Hannan out for lack of form, replaced by better players.

Can't say I'd be bothered if Vanders was dropped too, but his role can be a hard one to judge from the TV, and it appears the coaches are happy with him.

Much as I love his pressure, I think it's time for Pickett to have a break.  I'd be thrilled if Bedford got a game in his place, but that's pretty unlikely.  Much more likely to see ANB back in the side in his place.

Hannan was pretty bad today.  There are only so many turnover merchants we can cope with in the side and he didn't give us anything in attack.  I think he's going to struggle to keep his spot and probably goes out for Fritsch.

I'd love to see Harmes go back in as the defensive mid/tagger.  He was so damaging in that role and for some reason they decided to change things up.

Unlike many, I don't mind OMac.  I think he's useful structure-wise.  His defensive mindset helps balance out May and Lever and allows them to attack when they need to.

Wagner on the other hand has to go.  He was slow, fumbly and his kicking isn't great.

Sadly, I suspect Hibbo will also be out.  Lockhart comes in for him.

So where does that leave us?

OUT: Pickett, Hannan, Wagner, Hibberd

IN: ANB, Harmes, Lockhart, Fritsch.

Looks about right to me.

In all seriousness though: Pickett looks like he could do with a rest.

Also the perfect opportunity to switch out Jones for Harmes.

Our structure seems more important this year than actual personnel.

So Omac stays unless we go small and recall Jetta or Lockhart.

Fritter (& Hunt) in for AVB and Hannan maybe. Also looking forward to Bennell.

Melksham will never be dropped so I'm wasting my time talking about it.

Hibberd i think unlikely to take the field and it shouldn't be rushed.

Out: Jones, AVB, Hibberd.

In: Harmes, Fritsch, Hunt.

Personally like the side better with Lockhart in it

That throws out our forward structure. If they're making a change, it's Melksham for Fritsch. I wouldn't be rushing Fritsch back though.

I'd look at Harmes for Jones. I'd keep Pickett in the side. I'd also look at Corey Wagner or ANB too. Pickett may well get rested for the 4 day break and come in for the Freo game.

Need to see a lot of changes IMO. I would prefer fresh depth players to be picked than our tired fringe players. We have to back up again 4 days later.

Harmes, ANB, Tmac, Lockhart, Fritsch, Jetta, Bennell and Hunt should all be strongly considered for the Sydney match.

tmac? lol no chance. not with brown in, he's cooked

Mitch Brown beautiful set shot from 50 on the angle, ran back with the flight of the ball and got crunched, presented well, doesn't move like a statue.  Thats an upgrade on T Mac.

I’m worried Wagner will get ahead of himself. Too many times he plays ok in the first game to get a second but then absolutely stink it up.
I think others need to be changed before him but I just have this feeling.

Spot on. Does it every time.

If I hear one more person say play Bennell, I’ll spew up. He was well below average when In the side and has not been mentioned in the best in any of the scratch matches.  Why would you reward someone who is not playing well enough to earn his position.

In a normal season, I would be with you 100% but this year is different. The compacted draw, the fact that we’re playing our next two games in the heat and humidity of Cairns and having a few players looking as though they need a rest commands that at least 3 or 4 changes will be needed.

Why would you drop Hibberd? Reports after the match suggest he will not be unavailable because of injury. ?

Despite the win, there were way too many passengers last night who need to be dropped.

AVB no tackles.. if that bloke isn’t crunching bones then he’s not bringing anything else. Has been gifted games this year, needs to be dropped.

Pickett also needs to be rested. Unfortunately he is still quite a fair way off & has been for a few weeks now. Goes to ground too easily & doesn’t keep the footy in front of him. Needs to work on his craft.

Hannan... about as useful as a piece of clay. Just there. Turned the footy over several times when we got it out the back. Needs to be dropped.

Melksham is still well below his lofty standards, but perhaps showing signs of building some form.

SloMac is just too slow, mentally & physically. Takes too long to make a decision. Perhaps he serves a purpose for the back line structure but he’s a liability. I’d drop him.

Jones had that one very costly turnover & seems to be getting slower every second. It’s hard to watch, but I think he plays for his career next week.

Brown & Wagner on notice .. didn’t do enough imo but given at least another week to justify selection.

Outs: AVB, Pickett, Hannan & OMac

Ins: Fritsch, Harmes, Lockhart & Baker

Fritsch on the wing? Can't see it happening. Surely this isn't what you mean. Who would you play on the wing if Vanders is out?

The only option for me would be Tomlinson who was recruited for that role but has been worse than VDB. Or you could pull Baker in out of the cold, but this would be unlikely

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in
