A few things have suddenly become clear:

(a) If he couldn't get a run in a game where pace is imperative, Jayden Hunt is gone.

(b) Nev Jetta's career maybe on the skids. Been a champ.

(c) James Harmes has finally been called out about those compromising photos he claimed to have of the coach.

(c) Get as much dough as you can find on to Tim Membrey to kick 6.  I had him pencilled in for 4 until Oscar came back into the side.

You might be right about Lord Nev. Sad though. Has been a huge part of past success.

Wasn’t expecting 6 changes, I sort of wonder if the selection committee started falling down a rabbit hole of sorts when changes started. Gawn was obviously going to be a walk up start when available and sadly for Preuss it makes sense he makes way. Jones in for Sparrow just makes sense, I really would love Jones to pull out a classic performance (maybe get one over his little bro).

But after that as I said the domino’s started falling. TMac has had chance after chance and done very little, it’s sad to see him go from one of the competitions top forwards to what he is now in the space for 18-24 months. Brown deserves this opportunity.

Fritta out is a big call but I’m ok with it, he had been doing very little lately particularly when the game is there to be won. This could be the kick up the bum he needs.

Harmes probably deserves it as well but I think he’s been horribly mismanaged. I would’ve preferred to see a positional change that puts him in the forward line, potentially taking AvB’s role.

Happy seeing Rivers back in, less thrilled about seeing OMac (though I’m a fan) and Wagner.

I’ve tipped the Saints and these changes don’t fill be with confidence. Like so many other matches it’s going to be down to our midfield working harder than the opposition and taking our chances when they come. I’ve been feeling Weid has a big bag in him this year (he should had a couple already), if it happens this game it could be the making of him.

3 games in 9 days coming up. I suspect we’ve gone early on the freshen up as the Sydney to Freo turn around is quick, and we looked horrific on our last 4 dayer.

I suspect Harmes, Lockhart and Fritsch given a kick now so they have time so salvage their seasons. Harmes and Fritsch in particular need to respond as they’ve gone backwards fast in 2020.

OMac may be brought in for a specific job.

Yep, putting the orange rinds in the rubbish bin after quarter time, and licking Goody's boots to earn more Goody points. He is also in the team so that Harmes, playing out of position, works harder than ever for the team; and Salem, playing out of position, works just as hard to back-up Harmes whilst OMac is still getting to the contest.

With the season and possibly Goody’s career on the line, this is a mind boggling selection.

Big gamble.

I like this team.

A couple of changes forced with Sparrow hurt and Fritsch not showing up on time. Gawn and Jones bother fit now are back into the side and I have no problem with that. TMac and Harmes out, again, I have no problem with that either as both have been in bad form and not playing to the standards that they are capable of.

Lockhart was a surprise to me a, but that may be management of the player.

I look at this selection through the prism of the fixture over the following two rounds with a 5 day break and then a 4 day break.

With the selections that have been made I will be looking forward to what structure we play too. There might be a few surprises with different players moving into attacking positions.

Look forward to it and I will back a narrow win just to see the posters on here that might have to remove some egg.

Dees by 13 pts.

I was very, very close to heading to the Alice in the morning.  I'd selected my flights and accommodation for tomorrow night and just as I went to push the "Confirm" button, something told me that this was a terrible idea and I closed the screen.

Having seen the side, I now realise I have made one of the most cost effective and face-saving decisions of my life.  I would have been slinking off to the gents at 3/4 time, removing my Melbourne polo shirt, rolling it up under my arm and surreptitiously walking back to my hotel and drinking alcohol until I blacked out.  Instead, I can stay at home, turn the TV off at 3/4 time and go to bed without publicly embarassing myself AND save about $1200!  I call that a win.

Cannot agree with this. His form has been woeful.

Badly directed disposals and fumbles game after game . if that is your form, it does not matter where you play.

Agreed but when the club released the article about his move into defence I think the collective belief of demonland was that this would be to his detriment. We had a player in Harmes, this move seems to have killed his confidence and he doesn’t look sure of himself.

Asking the question about Wagners inclusion, what is his position? I know he kicked goals in the scratch match last week but is that how we’re going to play him? For me I’ve had him in the list of NQR’s for some time and was really hoping I wouldn’t see him in the senior team all year.

I'm optimistic for Josh Wagner. I could really see him playing a good defensive forward role on either Coffield or Clark. Both are important ball users, neither are exceptionally fast, and I doubt either of them have too much experience being targetted by the opposition.

Overall I'm happy enough with the team structure. I think on paper our midfield is far superior to the Saints, and if we can keep the ball in tight and under pressure I'll give us a decent chance of getting the win. However If we drop off the pressure at any stage, I could easily see the Saints tearing us apart on the outside like the dogs did in the third quarter last week.

If the reason for  Harmes' lack of form is not being played as a tagger then it does not say much for his mental fortitude. From my observation, he has not employed his talent to the defensive requirements of his role which, to my mind are not too different to a tagging role. Does Goodwin need to tell him to tag an opposition attacking player rather than tell him he is playing in defence?

With regard to Josh Wagner, I will be interested to see how they use him. I could see him rotating to a wing or playing forward of the center and using his defensive abilities to lock the ball in. In 2018 he had solid form.

I was at Metricon on Saturday and i watched Harmes all day off half back and he's a fish out of water back there, gotta get Rivers back there,he's a much better kick,Harmes is an awful set shot for goal so the only role he can play is a tagger, which i don't mind because he oftens gets 25+ himself.Harmes should've tagged the Bont or Macrae.I have no idea what Wagner will bring,he turns it over so much.

The Bulldogs kicked 6 unanswered in the third,2 of those goals were coast to coast, watch tonight how the Cats play when the Bulldogs are coming out of D50,Cats will be shoulder to shoulder all over the ground,we were playing 5 metres off our man as usual and Caleb Daniel,JJ etc. were kicking at 90+ % efficiency and carved us up.

Sadly Saints will do the same.

Tomilson to the wing

Hannan goes to fritsch spot fwd

Jones goes to sparrows spot as an inside rotating mid/fwd

Omac to Tomilsons backline spot . Considering king's aerial presence.

Can see the thought process. Actually could work.

Not sure why Brown over preuss or the Wagner selection though

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
