Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Excellent stuff. Can't stop laughing.

As to your "analysis" of the recruiting: what has any of that got to do with your horrendous argument that we're like Adelaide?

1. We won’t win the premiership this year.

2. We fall over under any pressure against good opposition.

3. We’ve failed very soon after achieving finals success.

4. We’ve given away good players who’ve then achieved at other clubs.

Just like the Crows.

Shall I go on?

shall I go on?

1. So the 16 clubs other than Adelaide who all fail to win the premiership this year will be poor sides like Adelaide?

2. What's that got to do with the winless Adelaide?

3. This is your best comparison between us and Adelaide?

4. What's that go to do with the winless Adelaide? And without hindsight, which were the good players we gave away?

Sure, go on if you've got some better reasoning than this.

Not a fan, but if he's earned it then why not?

About time we started selected players based on form and performance rather than name.

1. Yes. The objective of all AFL clubs is to win the premiership. Anything less is a failure.

2. Anything less than no. 1 means nothing. Especially after 56 years of no premiership..

3. Don’t be silly.

4. Ron Barassi

Peter Keenan

Stan Alves

Paul Callery

Earl Spalding

Gerard Healy

Jeff Farmer

Peter Walsh

Darren Jolly

Scott Thompson

James Frawley

Jeremy Howe

Stefan Martin
and multiple missed draft picks and trade opportunities,

to start with,

there’s lots more.

I’ll have a think...

A good stretch under anaesthetic could fix your fissure.

Beat the Saints and Swans and we will be sitting 6th if other results go as expected.  At worst we would be 7th.

This St Kilda game cant come along fast enough.

Please don't use that 'f' word when talking about an upcoming game against St Kilda...

Why are people discussing Jones as an in, he is injured isn’t he? Slight quad tear means season over?

Mahoney said on the broadcast it was tightness and thought he'd be right for this week.

(Granted Mahoney isn't a doctor, Jones hadn't had scans, and neither can predict the future tho)

outs. Sparrow (inj).

Tmcd slow

Vdberg ineffective

Hannan clueless

Pickett unlit dynamite - looks dangerous but harmless

Preuss huge heart but lacks smarts

Spargo little boy in a mans game

in. Brown Baker Bedford Rivers Bennell Gawn c.wagner

Why?
Brown replaces Tmcd
Baker for pace
Bedford replaces Pickett
Rivers has run and skill.
Bennell kicks goals
Gawn is our skipper and a star,
C.wagner can actually compete

lockhart. May. lever

Hibberd. Tomlinson. Salem

Langdon. Viney. Baker

Melksham. Brown. Bennell

Bedford Weid Fritsch

Gawn Petracca oliver

Rivers c.wagner brayshaw Harmes

After watching the Saints today, we WILL need the speed of Rivers and Baker. It’s that obvious that our outside speed needs 2-3 additions.  I also thought Salem was caught out several times and his legs couldn’t keep up at crucial times.

Baker is the exact player we need in the side but for most of the year he's done nothing in the scratch matches but the last 2 matches seem promising. I wish they would do a report on every player for the demons that played. No mention of Bennell or Bedford.

IN: Gawn, Rivers, Baker, Jones (if fit, if not then Hunt)

OUT: Preuss, Hannan, Pickett, Sparrow (inj)

Don't understand how anyone thinks Bennell is up to it based on his games in 2020. McDonald stays. He is slow, but he's quicker than Preuss! The fact that Melksham and Spargo hold their places reflects just how poor our forward line is.

For the Saints who will replicate the Dogs match play, run and switch play we need to add some pace and defensive forward pressure. Lockhart goes to a forward pocket with instructions to chase & tackle. Jetta comes in down back. Viney plays defensive forward and Harmes takes an on ball tagging role. Jones and Gawn  come in for some leadership and passion.  Brown in for TMac if he can pinch hit in the ruck. Need to look at Rivers, Bedford and Hunt on the bench. As to who comes out, take your pick after last week, likely Pruess, TMacc, Kossie, Spargo and/or Hannan! Sparrow injured.

I think that's harsh on Bennell for this year, he's had some decent games without lighting the world on fire but certainly his last game wasn't up to scratch. It's intriguing that we haven't really heard much about him since his last game so my thoughts are that they probably aren't looking to push him back into the line up any time soon.

I think we could see him bob up towards the end of the year and who knows he could hit his 2020 peak at that point which would make him a weapon to unleash.

I also personally agree with the point on Tom over Preuss, I think TMac would give us more across the ground and get to more contests. But jeez he must be close to being dropped for Brown.

If anything, we need another Kozzy.

still reckon the changes will be fairly minimal - gawn and rivers to come in for preuss and sparrow

i would personally be adding t mac, hannan and / or spargo to the list of outs but get the feeling they'll stick with the devil we know

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
