carlton-david-teague-tom-lynch-blues-latest-news

"Carlton coach David Teague has implemented a team-wide anti-taunting policy, as debate rages over on-field player behaviour across the AFL"

John Ralph reports  “...Cain Liddle (CEO Carlton)...said ‘I think Teaguey’s one of those coaches who says toughness and courage is putting your head over the footy and getting it done for your mates, as opposed to banging into people when they’re not looking or slamming people’s heads into the ground".

A nice little backhander for Dimmawit and Lynch.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got a 'please explain' from management at the Tigers, after all someone there removed his insults to Ox from the interview on their website.

Tom Lynch, Richmond, has been charged with Striking Michael Hurley, Essendon, during the fourth quarter of the Round 13 match between Essendon and Richmond, played at TIO Stadium on Saturday August 22.The incident was classified as a direct referral to the Tribunal and the player cannot be offered an early plea.

Lynch charge for punching Hurley in the throat dismissed!

What is the difference between the Dalhaus tackle and Neale Bullen's???????????????????????????????????????????????????????The easy answer is three weeks. The real answer is because he plays for Geelong, not Melbourne.

Main difference? No concussion, which was pure luck. This time the player put his hand out to protect the fall, Nibbler’s didn’t.

I also thought ANB was done in by the medical staff saying he would be on reduced duties for at least a week before returning, but the injured player had battled concussion issues earlier in the year so of course they were going to do that.

Of course the other obvious difference is that it’s a name player who doesn’t play for Melbourne. The MRO/Tribunal is the most biased piece of ? involved with the AFL.

[censored] I’d be [censored] if I were nibbler. What is the difference in the action that makes its 3 weeks more??  - surely not the outcome if the player ended up more concussed than the other  , I thought they were supposed to judge the action or does that only apply or not apply if they want to get a star hawthorn or cats player off on a technicality?

the logical part of my brain says that this isn’t all comprised,  but it I’m really struggling atm to see how it’s not

Lynch decision , we’ll I’m not surprised either

Posted this in the Non-MFC thread, Nibbler should take the AFL to court for loss of match payments:

This was what Gil said after Burgoyne got away with the first tackle this year:

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said the change would ensure the potential injury of a hazardous tackle would be taken into account by the match review officer when grading an incident.

“We want to be clear; protection of the head is our highest priority and we want all players at all levels and age groups to better understand that these tackles shouldn’t be part of our game.

“Dangerous tackles have the potential to cause head injuries, and it is essential that this is taken into account when assessing an incident under the AFL Tribunal guidelines.”

What an absolute load of bull?!

Corrupt is the only word

Lynch cleared by the tribunal for his throat punch on Hurley. Another fine by the MRP would have seen him suspended under the three fines and you’re suspended policy. Was he sent directly to the tribunal to be cleared and avoid another fine, therefore avoiding a mandatory suspension?

I'm still wondering how he wasn't already suspended.

He had the fine from earlier in the season after pushing Witherdens head in the ground, then got two $1000 fines for striking Witts & Collins.

Witherden, Witts, Collins = three.

Did they only count the latter two as a single offence 'cause it happened in the same game? ?

It was an open hand. Move on.

Lynch is now a proven recidivist so will get his come uppance eventually.

And Dimma is wrecking the Tiges brand of inclusion and enlightenment carefully nutured by Gale, , Paggy O'neil and the Board by his reversion to type when under pressure.

You missed my point, it wasn’t that he didn’t get suspended by the tribunal for that incident.

Pathetic flogs will continue to be pathetic flogs. Embarrassing look for the AFL but nobody puts the AFL’s love child in the corner apparently.

This is a bloody joke. The MFC should be taking this up with the AFL demanding an answer as to why there is such a disparity in the penalties.

Got it and well made.

Was it a convoluted method by Christian to avoid the suspension but appear to be 'doing something', which was likely to be challenged by the tiges and redacted following a successful appeal due to to type of action. Maybe?

A lifetime's experience tells me that whenever you have a choice between a conspiracy or a [censored]-up, choose the [censored]-up every time.

I don't think the AFL is clever enough to organise this conspiracy. It is, however, perfectly capable of this type of mistake.

(As an aside, lots of AFL staff got the chop yesterday. I wonder how close Steven Hocking was to the Gil-otine blade? Seems to me there's a lot in his job description that isn't going the way that it should.)

Edit: for "censored" read "rooster", or at least the derivative or nickname often used inoffensively as in "Coq au Vin" (Let's see if that passes the officious auto-censor. I had used a zero instead of the letter o, but that didn't work)

Someone needs to actually have a serious word to the Tigers. We've seen the stuff happening onfield with staging and punching etc, then we had Dimma's poor comments about Schwarz (particularly poor given it's the same club involved with Shane Tuck, Danny Frawley and Reece McKenzie) and now their CEO has made an appalling comment comparing Lynch's treatment to that of serial killer Ivan Milat.

Imagine being the family of one of Milat's victims and being reminded of the horror and tragedy because an [censored] CEO thought his undisciplined forward was being victimized like a murderer. Absolutely pathetic coming from someone spoken about as a potential replacement for Gil.

Read here:

“Tom plays it pretty hard and he cops a lot, he plays a physical brand of footy, but the scrutiny and the attention he’s received, it’s outrageous,” he told 3AW Sportsday.

“I can’t believe it, it’s like he’s Ivan Milat,” Gale quipped, referring to the serial killer who took the lives of seven backpackers in the early 1990s.

‘Like he’s Ivan Milat’: Tigers CEO stunned by ‘outrageous’ criticism of Tom Lynch

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
