My recollection was that when big man Wallis punched 18yr old Brad Green it was Hardwick that was also holding Green too

Pretty ****house comments by dimma but clearly a deflecting tactic away from that mercenary lynch now also a grub player

the hit by long looked even more terrible than I remember it

3 of the four weeks served in preseason ... i forgot that - what a [censored] joke... even back then

Yes my wife has said it was Dimma holding Green when he was assaulted from something she heard on radio. She is not Melbourne. If this is true I hope our Melbourne media people go to town on this despicable act. Imagine throwing barbs about the 2000 final knowing you held a first year player so he could be punched by a fellow thug. Yes I suppose after saying that maybe that is why Dimma is upset I mean compared to the weak, sniping [censored] he and his fellow players did under Sheedy, Lynch is an alter boy!

Tugs think they are bigger than the comp, and the pissweak penalties their players get implies HQ agree.

I’ve held Hardwick in some esteem for his efforts with the tigers, but these remarks display, at the end of the day, a fragile ego and a nasty streak.
Smugly sniggering at a football player showing emotion. Great message for the kids d***head.

Where’s the love gone Dimma? Dr Jekyll turns out to be Mr Hyde!

All these years I’ve always wondered where Neitz was when all this happened? Seemed like Schwarz was the only one flying the flag.

The Ox came back from 3 knee recos not to mention his serious gambling addiction.

Has Hardwick ever faced any adversity in his life?   Shameful comment from him

Has the Ox hit back? Fairly rich coming from Hardwick...

Ox brushed it off.  Said if you give it out in the media, you're going to have to take it sometimes.  He disagreed with Dimma's view of the GF in 2000 and Ox crying, but he didn't hit back.

But then, he didn't need to.  Dimma did enough damage to his own reputation with those comments.  Made himself look like a massive sook and a sniper, which he has always been.

Also, that clip from 2000 makes my blood boil... until you see Lloyd come flying in with the softest effort I've ever seen.  Still makes me laugh to this day.

Damn. I'd forgotten how sick that bump was. I'm not normally a big lover of "flying the flag" but I love seeing the Ox in that instance. How about the body slam on Hird.

Even though that was a hundred years ago now, it's hard to not still hate that f-ing club.

Don’t try and resist

Hate them for eternity.

Now my wife has shown me a picture that shows the bad Dimma holding Green with Wallis in front before the punch that could have killed him, let’s be honest. Looks pretty damning to me. The MFC media people should pile on big time on this.

However I suspect we will see the good Dimma reappear tomorrow to apologise for his comments and talk about great human beings and all the love etc....

Yes that’s exactly what I thought when I watched it again Wise. Llyoyd throwing girly haymakers whilst retreating at a thousand miles an hour. He was always one to belt blokes when they weren’t expecting it too.

Actually i find it bog easy.  One of the things lacking from our teams in both AFL GFs was an enforcer or two to punch back, make the opp hear footsteps and other team mates stand a little taller.  One of the big reasons i'm a big AVB fan.  Ditto Jakovich standing up to and rag dolling pretty much anyone who played on him, even the biggest full backs at that time and there were some biggens.

ha this is classic from Demetriou laying down the law only 2 years later

So we had two of our youngest players taken out in the early part of the grand final, Sheedy decided to play the thug card , we had no chance to stay competitive with those [censored]

at least the ox took on someone his own size x 3

[censored] I hate Essendon , seeing that clip again makes my blood boil , sheer arrogance of the club hasn’t changed even after 15 years without a finals win

praise the lord whoever put a curse on that piece of [censored] club back in the early 2000s, long may their drought continue

Dimma should be so proud playing for a dirty team who took out a player...

Hope Goody plays next time we play against the tigers

Have long thought Hardwick is a knobend. He just continues to cement that view. The guy has weird anger issues for someone of his age.

That makes my blood boil so much seeing that incident again. Let's put something into context here, Long got 4 matches for that sickening, disgusting, dog act of which he served 2 matches in the pre-season. 2 home and away matches against one of the worst act of cowardice on Grand Final day. Wallace also served his 3 match ban in the pre-season so essentially no punishment handed down.

Should never be forgotten and Dimma is pathetic for making Schwartz sound like a cry baby for wanting to stand up for his mate.

On aw tonight they said the dimma comment oj Schwartz was edited out on tigers website

Seriously if your going to bump someone at least have the courage to do it when they don’t have their head over the ball -  see exhibit A for a fair and hard bump

Didn’t realise there was already a thread on this. You guys are all over it!

He did two fifths of [censored] all as head coach for years on end.

Enter Neil Balme as GM of football, Caracella as midfield coach and Leppitsch as forwards coach. They win a premiership the very next year.

Call me cynical but I seriously doubt the extent of Hardwick’s influence on their success.

It was Hardwick. I've hated him and Wallis ever since. Brutal thugs.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
