Fritsch could be up there in the Coleman race if he could get his first season accuracy back

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

yes exactly. Imagine Fritch's season if he could kick straight.

We'd probably also be in the 8 already.

Classic deetime leakage with 30 seconds to go.

Dunn probably upset about the sleeveless.

Nowhere to stash the Winnie blues.

He probably has a few durries tucked inside that mullet somewhere.

Hannan should be in for tmac

I hope Goodwin was giving Brayshaw a serve for the goal celebration.

Maybe clean up your clangers first and then you can celebrate in the last mate.

Have to stop Pendles and Sidebottom as they create all their chances.

why do we ALWAYS give up goals late?

whoever is manning the siren held off as long as they could to give the filth a chance to kick another too

That last 6 seconds went for more I swear.

Not a bad shout, he does play tall.

Apparently has an illness though.

We are well organized and look good so far.

Preuss is doing a good job so far

Fritsch’s goal kicking is a massive issue. He misses every simple shot. It’s just not good enough for a stay at home forward.

Sort your [censored] out!

Tmac couldn’t even hit a target with a 1m handball. Absolutely cooked.

Tmac looks like himself 7 years ago, a baby dear learning his body, it’s hard to watch.

We looked so good for 90% of that quarter, again goal kicking let’s us down and then the last 5 mins we give them a sniff by being to cute.

When Gawn returns, I am all for it.  They obviously see the benefit of leaving Weideman forward, so they need that chop out ruckman which has to fall to him right now.

I can't wait for Gawn to return so we can move on from him, though.

When Fristch missed that goal, did anyone else think to themselves "watch us concede a goal here before quarter time"

I know this team too well.. it hurts my brain.

Well Collingwood were garbage that quarter and where only 14 points in front. We need to lift.

We should be another goal or two up but I’ll take it.

Considering how poor we have been in first quarters, especially over the last month, this is a massive win for us.

Need to clamp on sidebottom and pendles. Other than that they are garbage

We seem to get first hands on the ball at centre clearance but they end up taking it away, we're losing clearances by the way

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
