Rivers slightly stiff, but Lockhart has been terrific so he deserves to come straight back in.

Obviously Preuss in for Jackson is no surprise, and I don't necessarily mind the omission of Hannan for Viney.  When you look at who they have named in the starting six up forward, I wouldn't have him in there for any of those, nor for someone like Spargo on the bench.

Preuss for Jackson and Lockhart for Rivers like for like replacement. Viney for Hannan hopefully means Viney will rotate more through forward 50 and Brayshaw can continue to maximise his centre square time.

Ecstatic no Stephenson has a habit of killing us.

Every chance Pendlebury and Hoskin-Elliot underdoen and other Key injuriey outs:  Howe, Treloar, DeGoey

Stephenson out is interesting...who is going to kick their goals!

We have a much better team than they have and 2 days extra rest.

Dees to win.

Tell me the absolute lie that Goody doesn't play favourites despite form.

I'm telling you, you don't know the reasons why changes are made. This isn't under age football.

Trent rivers very stiff

Same as Mitch Hannan more solid than a less than satisfactory Jake Melksham!!!! Goody plays favourites AGAIN!!

And Spargo did do some good things last week But give me Rivers anyday!!

Melksham would want to perform this week!! Also Harley I would have thought would have played!??

Thought perhaps Lockhart might have come in for Harmes, given Rivers has looked great. Unless they have tagging ideas in mind for Harmes. I hope Viney's return doesn't disrupt Brayshaw's recent midfield form too greatly.

Not a massive fan if I’m being honest.

Lockhart for Rivers and keeping VDB instead of Hannan are both downgrades in class and ball use imo. And we don’t have much of it to start off with, particularly with Bennell still not selected.

Not that I don’t rate those guys in the side, I just feel the balance is too much to the inside/contested side of things, but we all know that is Goodwin’s go.

Seems Chris Mayne is both omitted and on the HBF.

Rivers is very slight and gets moved out of one on ones too easily. A bit of time in the gym this summer and he will be a fixture in the back 6 in 2021.
Happy with the changes. Thought they might manage Sparrow or Jones for Viney but otherwise as I thought.

Hoskin-Elliot kicked 3 on us in the QB game in 2019. He kicked 4 in 2018. 2 in Round 23 2017.

He also kicked 3 on us when playing for GWS in 2014.

He has form against us.

Stephenson has much better form against us.

Thought rivers was ok last week and Hannan is always handy.

I'm guessing Greg Stafford is still our ruck coach. He will earn his money this week in helping Preuss bring down Grundy.

We win we are in the 8 and knock those giants out. Tomorrow will tell us how much the boys want it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
