Holy [censored].. GWS dropping this game and by a big percentage means that this game is a HUGE must win game.

Its simple, we beat Collingwood, we go to 8th spot.

C'mon Dees let's dare to dream!

If this outcome doesn’t provide added incentive I don’t know what will.

Simply

Must

Win.

Not so fast. First, we have to win on Saturday without our two ruckmen.

A win doesn't guarantee us a spot in the 8 - if Essendon beat St Kilda they'll take it and we'll stay 9th (with GWS 10th).

Doesn't change the fact that this game for us this weekend is huge.

Hmmm. When was the last time we had such a massive game with a lot riding on it against Collingwood...?

Yep, that draw really [censored] everything up. Saints can easily drop this game Gresham being an out for them is huge.

Last game of 2017. We should have eaten Collingwood up which would have given us a finals gig. Expectations was high to beat them comfortablyand we failed miserably.

Good opportunity to see how Goodwin works with pressure on him.
The door is open, but we have to take the walk

I want the saints to lose this week. Round 13 sees essendon play Richmond and the saints play the lions.

If we can muster a win against the pies and the dogs we will leapfrog both teams whilst making life really hard for the pies and essentially knocking the dogs out of the finals race.

GWS ... 2 goals from 'free kicks' ... free in every sense of the word.

These umps have NFI.

The umpiring was dreadful tonight.

Summed up by the 3rd goal from a free to GWS...

Just dreadful...

Sydney opened the door to the eight  and has given us that chance to be even more motivated. We cannot afford to slip up now.

This is a great opportunity for us to make a statement. Let's ruffle some feathers .

Agree - obviously all depends on whether we can beat teams in the 6-12 range but I think St Kilda are vulnerable as they still have games against Bris, us and West Coast.

The Swans have pretty much taken the Ferrari keys right out of GWS hands, tied a red ribbon on them and ditch them in the Dees direction to take advantage of the opportunity to floor it into the 8.

If the giants were a vic based team they would be under so much more scrutiny.

If the Giants had supporters they would be under so much more scrutiny.

On one hand we have only beaten teams currently 12th or lower.or the other hand we have let to the top 4 plus the tigers.

The season is poised beautifully to see where we really sit as we play 7 teams in roughly this middle group.

If we can't beat teams in the 6-12 range then we don't really deserve a spot in the 8. We have a [censored] load of 8 point games coming up, keep winning and the ladder will take care of it's self

Long run I don't think Essendon can compete for a finals spot. They've got too many games to come against the strong sides and I'm not convinced, at all, they can win enough of them to get to 10.

And yes, I was hinting at Round 23 2017. This isn't as important given it's not a clear cut of "win and in", but it's still the most important game we've played this year.

That Essendon draw did us no good at all.

Had Essendon lost it would have opened up 2 spots in the 8 for us to take...Pies and Saints with both Bombers and Suns trailing us.

Bombers beating the Saints is good but it gives the Bombers a big leg up. If Saints win it gets harder to take their spot.

Lose to Collingwood and we will be well out of the 8.

Looking increasingly likely we will need ten wins to make the 8 which is probably at least one win too many for us.

LH I believe a Blues win is best for us as it puts to bed any chance of Freo making the 8 and we are yet to play them

GWS are vulnerable but hard to see them losing to the Swans

GWS now in mix do maybe 3  spots

I like the look of Sydney’s younger players. That Rowbottom looks a really good prospect.

Leon Cameron will surely go at seasons end.    Surprised hes lasted so many years actually.

He was just handed the most insanely talented list ever with endless high end draft picks and assets and all he has to show is a 12 goal Grand Final loss.

Thats a good analogy.

They still have a load of talent and they have the academy so the list will be strong for a while yet.  if they bring in a great coach they can still pinch a flag or two sadly.

Clarko surely?

Interesting that Geelong get a free after laying a dangerous tackle. Seems that even after all of the discussion following ANBs case, it still comes down to outcome and not action.

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
