Salem and Langdon are C graders which are enigmas. There is only 5 players there that are of AFL quality ATM.

I'm being generous to Oliver who is an E grade kick.

Oliver is A Grade at getting his body in a position to get the ball from the best tapman in the business. What he is not A Grade at is getting to the spots that will give him a clear kick. The question for Goodwin is whats the point of him getting the ball in positions where his kicks are not to advantage and often cause turnovers

He often kicks it into the man on the mark and coughs it up without pressure. Watch the Richmond game for a few examples

Just making a little note here -

NOT AFL QUALITY. Oscar and Tom McDonald, Hibberd, Hannan, Tomlinson, Weideman, Fritsch, Hore, Jetta, Smith, a few older guys and a bunch of kids.

I'm going to give you an over-under of 50% on the ten I've named there and see how it pans out by, say, end of 2021.

Gee I wonder how you'd rate the teams we've beaten?

Retire- (2) Jones and Jetta

Woah. Hold everything. We can just sign up a heap of VFL players and other clubs' rejects, get them "in the system", watch them improve, and then stand back and wait for the premierships to roll in. This is going to save us a fortune on recruitment.

You have gone about this the wrong way, ask yourself (better your friends who support other teams) what draft pick they would give up to get our player?

Example: Gawn 2 first round or a top 5 pick

Trac and May a top 10 pick

Oliver a first round pick many are happy to give up a top 10

Lever, Fritta, Weids end of first round/early second round

Brayshaw, VIney 2nd round pick

Langdon, Rivers ironically Jetta is still valued all get a nibble for a third round pick

The rest aren't rated as anything more than grabbing if free or trying to get a steal. Harmes is an example of this where they would quickly grab him but not if it costs.

Oh and Jackson is still viewed as 1st round based on potential.

This thread is the saddest aspect about being a Melbourne supporter now. It the realisation that after seven years we have a broken B game list. How did we get this bad it inexplicable. The only thing worse than the list is the coaching panel a complete list of C graders. The broom need to be put through the coaching panel. A list review also need completing with a dont come Monday for as many players as e can off load.

Fair call on a lot of them.  That said it is a coachs job to improve players when they are in the system. The only one I can see who has improved under Goodwin is Petracca.

What is your go Ding? What are you being smart about.

We have had too many players drop away sharply this year and last, and sadly I can’t see many of them getting back to where they were previously.

Im thinking guys like TMac, Melksham, Brayshaw, Harmes, Jetta, VDB, Fritsch, Jones.

And nobody has emerged from the pack besides last year’s draftees. So many on the chopping block who have not been able to step up like Baker, Wagner x 2, Dunkley, Bedford, Hunt, Hannan, Chandler etc.

Development and gameplan has sucked the life out of our list.  Find Goodwin totally uninspiring to listen to, am sure the players would feel the same.  They played like coach killers last night.  Simon only realised his job was on the line in the last quarter haha.  All fine to play a system based game but you can't try and play with no emotion or you get dished up results like vs Sydney /Freo.

Interestingly was only in the last 10-12 minutes that we started playing with emotion and our energy levels seemed to rise.

Emotion/passion/determination/pride are resources for motivation any smart coach should be using.

Simon just aint that smart and has shown he is stubborn to change things up at all.

We really need the next coach to evaluate our list, i think many are going to improve under a new reign with plenty to prove.  That being said we need a big broom to clean out the clear dead wood at least.

They can't be that many C to E graders on our list. Not if they were being properly developed anyway!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
