Our defence was good, really stood up in the 2nd Q especially. Probably Jetta the only under pressure

Bennell, Jetta, Brayshaw, Jackson all under pressure.

Tom McDonald should come in. Jackson was good in the first but then went missing

Jackson went missing cause the ball couldn't get down there in the second and third quarters.

Rivers in for Jetta

get games into Jackson very impressive mobile big man

McDonald in for Fritch

Tomlinson or Sparrow for Harmes

I should say I’m a fan of all of the outs but they are all passengers at the moment

Out: Jetts (2 disposals & 0 tackles) & Hannan 4 disposals (3 turnovers) Pickett on thin ice

In: Rivers & T. Mac

With only a four day break the mandatory changes might be the newbies Jackson and Pickett, based not on form but on fitness and endurance. Bring in TMac and one of Sparrow or Jordan. Jetta might be up for a spell too, took a couple of hits tonight, so maybe Rivers comes in.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that.
Goodwin gave him a special gee up at 3 qtr time but he didn’t respond at all.

Harmes is having an ordinary season and there wouldn’t be one game this year where he’s been in our best 6-8.

Like Brayshaw, he’s probably struggling with a clearly defined position on the ground.

Harmes is having an ordinary year because he was played out of position at the beginning of the year and doesn’t know his role in the side, yet we forgive Oliver quickly when he gets the ball tapped down his throat all night and doesn’t once take it cleanly. Add that to his dodgy foot skills.

Harmes should be replacing Gus in the middle. He deserves a crack in the middle for 80% game time. He is cleaner below his knees than Oliver. Gus is gone at the moment. Slow and disinterested

Mate Oscar’s not getting dropped & Tom won’t be in to replace him down back.

Not sure if you were watching the game tonight chell, but Harmes played a lot of game time in the middle, where as Gus played the whole game on the wing.

Harmes was not far behind Brayshaw in being the worst player on the night.

Continues to just give away stupid free kicks which cost momentum or give up a goal to the opposition. The blokes thinks he's Dustin Martin half the time and infuriats me that he has the gonads to always argue back with the umpire when he gets pinged holding the ball all the time.

I thought so too. With a 4 day break he's one player I'm sure they will not take a risk on.

Watched the game tonight and agree Harmes was poor, but Gus was worse. I saw Jones and Langdon on the wing most of the night. I was never sure Brayshaw was playing. Wherever it was, he was useless. I’d be dropping him before Harmes. Brendan McCartney was attributed with turning Harmes into a serious player, I wonder what effect his departure and mentorship has had on him.

Yes Brayshaw was Worst on ground. Harmes was far behind him though.

Trying to turn Harmes into a defender has unfortunately halted his development to a degree this year.

Maybe 2-3 changes

Out Jetta, Bennell rest

In T Mac Rivers

Fritsch & Brayshaw on the edge

A few others didn’t play to well, but wholesale changes after a four point loss won’t happen!

OUT: Jetta, Brayshaw

IN: Rivers, Tomlinson

Would consider ANB for Bennell pending what Burgo thinks too.

Langdon played 90%, Jones played 81%. So as Gus was the only other guy to play on the wing it's fair to assume he played 29% game time on a wing and 36% time on ball.

Harmes played 65% game time and I'd imagine it was split 50/50 on ball and forward.

Harmes was always a nearly player on ball and always a nearly player on the wing. Tagging - where he could use his physical gifts and hardness - then hurting opponents the other way is the one position he's excelled at.

The backline didn't seem to work, but he is providing good forward pressure as a half forward and still having effective moments on ball.

I thought he copped a couple of holding the balls tonight where he just didn't have a chance. No prior, tried his absolute best to get it out and was victim of this silly new rule and ripping tackles (the kind of tackles Kossie would get a free kick against). Harmes is a bullocking ball player and has to keep being that whilst adapting to tapping the ball on or doing what Brisbane excelled at tonight - the drop the ball as soon as the tackle comes.  But otherwise yeah he had a crappy game.

There's just no good solution to the Harmes and Gus problems when there's no replacements for them and Oliver, Petracca and Viney will get the lionshare of midfield minutes.

Second half of your assessment is spot on. Harmes was pinged red hot for hold the ball in slinging gang tackles with no prior and told he didn’t make a genuine genuine attempt. Absolutely atrocious. Suddenly that rule didn’t apply to Brisbane players

Agree Harmes has had a poor year. Was ineffective in defense and is now struggling to find his role again in our midfield. He did play more in the guts than Brayshaw though. Below is Brayshaw heatmap for tonight. Gus played only 65% game time and exclusively on the wings.

Out: Jetta

For his own safety as much as anything it's curtains for Nev. Send him home to the kids for a few weeks.

In: Smith - our backline needs more ground level defensive ability and overall can do with someone who can cover the ground and be aggressive. Oscar, May and Hibbo are doing a great job deep. Poor Salem is having to cover a heap of ground higher up. As is Lockhart and Lever. Smith will make some errors but he won't be the 2nd tall now. Chuck him in at a back flank and tell him to go beat a man.

Out: Harley or Kossie

In: ANB - the forward line needs some fresh tackling legs and I think both of the above need a rest at some stage. Mental freshen up for both really. Kossie had his first game where he really played like a kid today. Not with the silly tackling free kicks but with rushing through packs and poor positioning. Harley - obvious concerns about his body but also just seems to need constant reminders to get some pressure on and stay involved in the game, he's kind of like a brand new AFL player given he's been out so long and the game has surely changed.

IN: RIVERS, T.MCDONALD, NEAL-BULLEN, TOMLINSON

OUT: BENNELL, JETTA, JACKSON, BRAYSHAW

Depends on the weather. If it’s another wet slippery pitch I  would not play Kosi or Pickett. dont misunderstand me I think both are future stars but in these conditions Tom McD and ANB would have been better

I don’t know, if you’re not going to play Kosi you should probably keep in Pickett. Just for balance.

Lol

It's a big game as Port will be fired up after their bad loss yesterday. I'm sure Goody won't make changes but he really should do the right thing by the older blokes and give both developmental players Jackson and Pickett a week off.

They are exciting and I love watching them, but they are kids and Power will be a very physical game like the Lions. Pickett's net return the past few weeks has been really low, even though we all love him.

Jetta will need a week off and has just four days and if anyone else is sore they should be rested.

There are five guys waiting and deserving to come in - ANB, Rivers, T.Mac, Tomlinson and J.Smith.

Out: HArmes, Brayshaw, Kossie and Nev.

In: Sparrow, Tomlinson, ANB and Rivers.

I wouldn't be resting players this week but the week after maybe.

In. Sparrow and TMAC

Out. Jetta and Harmes
