Well done!

Some D'landers have been questioning why he has been 'quiet'.  Hopefully, they will be now be satisfied.

There might be a joke there about audience numbers, but I'm not going to make it.

How dare you sir. The Soundcloud numbers listed on the site only include that streaming platforms numbers. It does not include Apple, Android and other Podcasting app numbers.

Well as a long term listener, chat room regular  and occasional caller that pleases me no end

I actually think it's almost a strength of Bartlett's to be almost invisible.  Not that I claim to have any inside insight into the actual state of play, but his being a low profile chairman seems to work from the perspective of providing a stable cohesive environment which lets our administrators and footy departments get on with the job.

Righto lads let’s not chit the bed on this and give him some powderpuff questions!!

Ask him how much of a pest is Saty! Kidding of course.

Great work in getting the pres on. Hopefully we can come up with some decent relevant qs.

Keen to hear more about the options/potential on a new home base, covid crisis and all.

Is he worried any club/MFC could fold/merge/be moved?

2020 is the year they had tagged as the year where we would be challenging for premierships in the plan, how does he think we are travelling against that?

The most obvious question will be an update on a home base.
I’m not expecting anything remarkable  from him but I expect you guys to go full mongrel on him demanding clarity on it.

obvious q's:

  • what are the plans for the home base?
  • what effect will covid have on this?
  • is casey a fallback option?
  • what are plans for additional revenue opportunities given divesting of pokie revenue?
  • what are the short-term and long-term threats of 'rona decimating clubland from a staff / list perspective?
  • if we don't make finals in 2020 does that mean a new coach in 2021? (as outlined in their own future planning documentation)
  • how frustrated are the board by team's performances, given that success off-field is to a large degree dictated by success onfield?

Could be the biggest audience ever. Good work guys.

The inequalities in the draw (normal season) as far as the Dees always playing at Geelong and in Tasmania when compared to other Melbourne based clubs.  What does the AFL say to the club about this? What does the club say to the AFL about this?

Apart from asking members/supporters to dig into their pockets, what other initiatives are being undertaken to claw back the loss in revenue?

How on earth did he become a Melbourne supporter when he grew up in Perth, lived there up until about 10 years ago (so deep in his 40s), and actually play for the WCE? I don't get it. Not complaining though.

Good question why he would volunteer and waste his time with us why don’t you ask him?

Well done guys, enjoying your podcast and this is a great get.

An update on the financial position of the club and the impact caused by COVID-19 to club finances would be great.

An update on how the 5 Million requested from supporters is going, and the high level split of how it will be used to pay off debt vs strategic plan etc

Yep, gone from Champagne to River water in very short order.

Goodwin has undone all of Roosy’s work and now he has no idea what to do.

Get Craig Belamey to Coach the MFC with a few Assistants

He would sort this place out in 6 months

What’s a day in the life of a club president actually look like? How many hours a day/week during footy season are you working on the club?

How do you evaluate the Footy adept as a whole/as individuals?

Goodwin's tenure as coach really needs to be put to Bartlett (and to not accept cop-out answers).

The board unnecessarily extended his contract for way too long, that puts us in a position that has us stuffed financially if we get rid of him early, or even more stuffed with membership retention (ultimately financially) if we don't.

Sorry RG but I don't agree while it might have some benefits inside the club from the outside it is perceived that we just roll over on anything the AFL bowls up. Most non dees supporters just see us as a weak small club without any balls. We need a bit more Eddie / Kennet in our chief. Right now the people in the outer want to know what is being done to change the team results. We have a silent Chairman and Silence CEO. Add a coach that believes in learnings. The silence is deafening.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
