Surprised by the lack of celebration. The Tasmania-border-closure will probably be season-defining.

I celebrated epically, and then realised we’ll still have to beat a side at Metricon Stadium that we have a 1-19 record against since round 9 2007.

This mediocre, middle of the road, average footy club beats us anytime-anywhere.

The game MUST be at Metricon or Gabba.  No reason for it to be anywhere else.

Surely the AFL can not shaft us again.

Was 50-50 at Blundstone - plus all the added effects of travel. Now 80-20. Makes a big difference in an 17-round season.

Plus 'epically' is a pretty impressive adverb.

Really we have only beaten them once in the past 20 outings? Wow that is a sad stat, even for us. Hopefully it means we are due for a few wins on the trot.

Gabba is a lot closer to their base

Well, seeing that North Melbourne’s hub facility is on the Gold Coast at the Mercure Resort, Metricon Stadium would be even closer.

If the game’s played at the Gabba, both clubs have at least an hour’s travel by road which would be fair in the circumstances.

Key factor will be money. Saves all the extra flights and hotels etc for 2 clubs. That is what the AFL will concentrate on.

Has the AFL let us know where we are playing our game against north in 11 days yet?!?

I though the roos are in the same resort as us

Working from home is really dulling my senses. Truly, my first thought when I saw this picture was that Covid had really aged Max Gawn.

Then read the piece and realised it wasn't him.

Does this mean Sydney & GWS will have to hub in Queensland (or another state)?

Hopefully it’s Queensland so we don’t have to fly to play them.

Sydney and GWS are scheduled in Queensland for the next 2 rounds, then they both have the bye in R11.

Sydney and GWS both have not played West Coast and Freo and are scheduled over there for R12 so will follow up with games against the Perth teams in the following 2 rounds R13 and 14.

Who knows after that?   The Giants still have to play Adelaide and Sydney still has to play Port so maybe they'll swing by there in R15.

Sydney and GWS evacuating to a Qld hub tomorrow.  Will then hub in Perth for a few weeks.

Its hard to see the smaller states relaxing the border quarantine requirements so it looks like all bar SA and WA clubs will hub the rest of the season in Qld.

AFL will there work cut out to fit in NT games, Tassie games and Cairns games into the last 6 rounds still to schedule.

Sydney's played West Coast which lessens the effectiveness of sending them with GWS to Perth, but yes, I think this is what will have to happen.

So they have - you are correct!

GWS and Syd are scheduled to play each other in Perth at Optus in round 12.  GWS then play Freo and Eagles.  Syd play Freo.  Syd could play another team there from the next group to hub in WA or return to the east coast.

Given that Syd has played Eagles and is going over to play the NSW Derby and Freo the AFL could do the same to us.  They could send Ess to play Eagles but that is unlikely as they seem to get a dream run from the AFL.

The fairest thing to do is to send teams yet to play both Freo and Eagles:  North, Bulldogs, Richmond and Saints, especially as they have hubbed in Qld from the start and had precious little travel/disruption.

This might be my MFCSS but we can't rule out a horror stretch in rounds 13 to 16.

Was just a reading an article and came across this DD. I can’t attach links for some reason, here’s an extract.

ROOS, DEES SET FOR VENUE SWITCH

_ Tom Morris reports..._

North Melbourne’s Round 11 game against Melbourne will now be played at the Adelaide Oval.

Foxfooty.com.au understands the Sunday evening timeslot on August 9 will remain as planned.

That just seems daft!  Why fly both teams to Adelaide...

We sure are being messed about and not getting any breaks at all.

I guess we will stay in Adelaide after the Crows game.  No point flying back to Qld and a long road trip to Maroochydore and do the same in reverse a few days later for the North game.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
