Trac is looking ripped as F#$@.

Bout time.

He's always looked the part (in my opinion).ย  If he has managed to mature in his approach to the game, then he could be anything; the skills have never been an issue, just the mindset.

Was carrying a few under Misson, trimmed up under Burgo.

Burgo a noted motivator of Men.

Nathan Buckley-esque guns.

Trac has always been ripped. The problem in the past has been that he has been carrying too much muscle. He's never had a fat issue.

Christian Petracca has put in.........

ย

Or,ย  Chriastian Petraca,ย  is putting in the extra efforts,ย  continuing extra efforts.

ย

He's not that great a runner, he says...ย  But neither was 'baby joe',ย ย  until he grew up and trained.

We have-to,ย  expect more from our talents,ย  @ Mfc.

He's got more to go,ย  has Tracca.ย ย  But he's tracking well.

ย

Now for Bray and Oli to follow in the footsteps of Harmes and Co.

The facial hair makes him look about ten years older.ย  Is that the source of his new maturity?ย

Should he be going the full Gawn beard?

Should the whole midfield? That would be a terrifying sight at a center bounce.

Not quite HT.

His super high ball drop has been a problem for his whole career.

Also needs to learn how to kick straight at goal.

At least 2 skills that still need a lot of work.

Looking better as he gets older but still has some way to go.

Or has he decided to trust himself,ย  to stop doing what others expect of him (nice boy routine),ย  and to let his own hair down,ย  relax,ย  and grow for himself.ย

Is this a sign of new found independence in Tracc.

Can anyone else see the similarity of this concept..ย  and the idea of Melbourne becoming truly independent.ย  with new base.?

I think he has finally sorted a better routine for his set shots on goal. He was way to busy for my liking as well as the high drop. He is now much much more still over the ball and holds the ball lower in his approach. This looks pretty good to me.

Looks nice in slow-mo and under no pressure i admit.

Watch him in general play in a couple of weeks with his eyes as wide as dinner plates, holding the ball practically in front of his face before he drops it to his boot.

He is improving and might actually become theย really good player we all hoped, but he still hasnt delivered a huge game in anything more than pre-season matches so far.

*fingers crossed

Less games to make an impact so I hope he jumps right out of the blocks vs Carlton. I cautiously optimistic about him, hopefully it'll click for him, he seems to have the right attitude so it's about putting all the pieces of the Petracca puzzle together.

We''re all very critical and I think that is because of what WE want. People grow, learn and mature at different rates. For some; I'm sure nothing will ever be enough, even when we do win the next cup (that's not directed at you).

What is directed at you is the comment about a huge game. No, he hasn't delivered a huge game... yet. I put a bottle of Jamisons on Trac to have a better SC points average at the end of the season than De Goey and to increase said average by 15%. Now, if the season ended after one round I would be in possession of that bottle. At the end of the season if he is averaging over 100 SC points I will be very happy even if he hasn't had a HUGE game and we will have another big contributor to the success of the team.

We all have our criticisms of the team and the players but I refuse to direct any of that at a player who has taken obvious steps to improve their performance.

So, ..... you agree with me.

Awesome.

ย

Seriously though your first sentence is spot on, although a bit obvious. OFC as MFC supporters we want all of our players to be champions. I also hope Trac becomes a gun sooner rather than later.ย

He still has a sky-high ball drop in general play, and it needs to be fixed so he can deliver the ball consistently.

If he averages over 100 this year i will be very pleased. No harm in hoping for 120 or more though is there?

Even though he wantsย to play full time midfield I hope he still plays a percentage of the game up forward.

We need all the fire power we can get in the forward line andย it will allowย Harmes and Brayshaw more time in the midfield.

it's interesting you say this, as they're slightly different sort of players i feel

yes, they can both rotate forward / mid, but i think de goey is a better mark of the ball and trac's ground level ability is better than the goog's

de goey is listed as 188cm and trac at 186cm, but from my understanding that's de goey's measurements from when he was 17 and he's grown significantly since then

both have the potential to be game-changers for their sides

I'm still backing Trac to be a better/ more productive player and yes, I think he is developing into a game changer. My bigger point was really about how impatient we all are

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics youโ€™d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
