What is the difference between home and away for neutral venues with no crowds and no gates?

NSW, QLD, SA & WA teams will get 8 home, 8 away and 1 neutral game. Vic clubs will be different but they can figure it out, Geelong really the only outlier.

Interstate travel

"For neutral venues" - Adelaide and Port for example can play 8 home, 8 away and 1 neutral game. We could play 7 home, 7 away and 3 neutral (MCG games vs Richmond, Collingwood and Hawthorn).

Home & away doesn't really matter except for interstate travel (or games in Geelong).

We’ve got Carlton it appears. Saturday twilight.

Interesting, not that it matters a lot but did they say where it will be played TJ6?

Likely Round 2 fixture

Collingwood vs Richmond, MCG

Geelong vs Hawthorn

Brisbane vs Fremantle, Gabba

Carlton vs Melbourne, Marvel Stadium

Port Adelaide vs Adelaide, Adelaide Oval

Gold Coast vs West Coast, Metricon

Sydney vs Essendon, SCG

GWS vs North Melbourne, Giants Stadium

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs, Marvel Stadium

Carlton at our fortress.

Challenge accepted.

I find the fact we have to travel from Perth to another away game, with only an 83 day break disgusting.

Ripped off as per usual

And if I recall, it was 32 degrees in Perth last round.

I'll excuse the lads if we have a last quarter fade-out.

Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, and Sydney first up.

All absolutely winnable games.

Essendon and Geelong back to back at the G. Nice.

Based on this fixture we must run into the finals with a flurry of home games. With only a 17 round season, and 4 of the first 5 are away.

Escape a trip to Geelong. Nice.

No wonder Gil looks sic..

Sunday 3.30 suits me but at some stage we need to be thought of as prime time.

Glad there are no crowds allowed.  We play in the Sunday arvo death slot 3 times, but it is made for tv!

Correct only Melb and Stk dont have a Thrus/Fri or sat night game but the Sunday games we play are all 7 games.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
