I'm happy for Geelong to host all 8 games if it means the protected species in Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond cop a game down there.

That’ll be interesting, I could be wrong but I believe SA only has two locally based AFL umpires.

I know the draw matters, but I'm honestly getting to the point that I don't care who we play where, I just want to see us play again and start building some winning form.

I hope that the long break to Rd 2 has given our boys time to stew on things and get super hungry to play and for some success.

I posted this on another thread but if the WA and SA clubs get away with calling all games in the Qld hub away games the impact is dramatic....

"If Eagles etc have only played away prior to Round 8 they will have played away 7 times. At most they will need to play away two more times and of course one of those away games could be against Freo in Perth. It will then mean that following Round 7 Melbourne teams will on average be playing interstate once every two weeks while the likes of Crows and Eagles will not travel again.

The Eagles will have their revenge not to mention a massive home  ground advantage. It is lucky that Brisbane are an okay team or we could quite likely see the Eagles going 8-0 and then having 8 or nine games in Perth."

looking forward to Kent playing the best game of his career and tearing us up.

We’ll either be playing the following for round 2:

Carlton, Essendon, GWS, North, St Kilda, Sydney or Bulldogs.

We should be able to beat any of those sides aside from GWS if last year was an aberration. Whether we do is another story...

There are no crowds so it shouldn’t matter, at all who or where we play.

This won’t happen as the AFL cant be guaranteed that WA will open their borders.  They have already come out and said they might not open until October

think about it.... if all the Qld games before round 8 are away games then even if they are stuck in Qld their remaining "home games" will be in Qld.They wont have to travel. It's a guaranteed win. Same for the SA teams if they get a similar ruling.

Will the AFL allow it... who knows..... but the Eagles football manager was quoted as saying that was his understanding of how it would work.

It will depend entirely on how much money can be generated each week.

One would hope that would be the case, remembering though that should we play Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn, and potentially Blues away they could be MCG games so “sort of” home games. Given we have already got one interstate trip out of the way, we really shouldn’t be traveling that much for the rest of the year. 

Its interesting with the Kangas bleating about Tassie that there has been literally nothing said about the Alice Springs game, should we assume that just isn’t happening?

while I'm in the "it wasn't an aberration" crowd, I don't think a win or loss would tell us either way. The only way we can truly determine whether or not it was an aberration is to look at the same sample size. Our performance across the year will tell us.
