WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL

The Club has made a priority of improving the medical and conditioning departments. This play will be a great test if we've got it right or not. Hawks medicos have successfully delivered them Burgoyne, Scully, O'Meara, Patton and on their own have made them a destination Club. Let's hope that's what's about to happen to us.

He's a better talent than Geelong's recently departed Tim Kelly.

Big call Pro.... Kelly is a special player.

Bennell was once very, very good, but to rate him better than Kelly is a very bold call.

Still, you could be right

For me it's a no brainer.

He'll be relatively cheap and with lists of approx. 44 what's the downside if he doesn't pan out ?

His talent is undeniable.  37 disposals and 4 goals against us at the G was evidence of a very special player.  He's a better talent than Geelong's recently departed Tim Kelly.

If you can't take a risk when you haven't won a flag in over 50 years when can you ?

I'll live very comfortably if he came to the Dees and never played a game.

Btw, I can share that Goodwin and co. are very bullish about 2020.  They're aiming for top 4 and think they can win it - (courtesy of a lunch between Goodwin and well-heeled Demons supporters).

Naturally, the usual rebarbative posters will bloviate their inanities at such a suggestion.

Welcome back PD

We got the Elliot cash to throw around.

True but if his asking price of $700k+ is true he hasn't justified that in his performances to date. He and Bennell fully fit and firing would make a significant difference to our skill levels.

Bennell said on 7 news that he wants to play on the G.

@7NewsMelbourne

Former Fremantle and Gold Coast enigma Harley Bennell is about to fly into Melbourne for a key meeting that could revive his AFL career. https://7news.link/56zYMf

His comment about his excitement to play on the ‘G’ is promising. Doubt he would say that if he were favouring Swans or Cats.

Personally I'm happy if we pick him up. Many have pointed out that we have a bunch on list cloggers already who it seems their only attribute is durability. Bennell is a risk, both in his off-field history and injuries. But I feel like most recent premiers took a risk on somebody to help them get to the top.

He has attributes we sorely lack, and the risk is ultimately that we're giving up a slot on the list. If we bring him on board them I back the club in and I'll back Harley in.

We do have 3 of his ex-teammates in May, Kolodjashnij and more recently, Langdon, while Nev Jetta has played with him in some of the representative matches. Presumably the club are doing their homework.

Ross Lyon really rates him despite his problems at Freo.  He is still close with Pert and I'm sure they've had some conversations.

Yes from me. He is still quite young and has plenty left if he can leave his injuries behind. Is a match winner!

If we can get Bennel, maybe Martin might change his mind and come to us. Eddie little Betts hasn’t got long at the Blue Balls...

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
