Nev Takes Kozzy In

Featured Replies

I love nev. Top bloke and super solid citizen.

I hope that once his playing career is over the club will lock him in a player welfare role.

No coincidence that a lot has started to go right for the club, since Jetta has been involved. Grateful to have him and hope we keep him on in his career after footy to build stronger indigenous roots.

We all love Nev. Wouldn't it be great to see back pocket Nev kick the winning goal in time on in a Grand Final against Collingwood?

Nev is a quality human.

Kozzy is a lucky young man to have an uncle like Nev.

Agree 100%.

One can only speculate what might have been, had we had this in place when Sean Charles, Liam Jurrah, and maybe Wonna needed leadership and guidance.  Three hugely talented players who for various reasons lost the plot.

Channeling Neil Crompton

God I love Nev. I defy anyone not to adore this guy. Just an all around star.

Sure you don’t mean it the way it can come across, but hate it when people refer to our ‘indigenous boys’, there is a history to the term boy.

it's true that there is a history, but it is all about context

all the team are referred affectionately as boys by supporters

also note the qualifier "our" in "our indigenous boys".

pretty inclusive i'd say. nothing to see here unless one gets overly super sensitive.

I understand that, but also understand that it is not something that goes down well out here, even used innocently as it is here, can still cause offence.

Very true, that "context" is everything. We must all be prepared to respect that and acknowledge it. Sometimes that does clarification and genuine apology if offence caused.

I have often found that discussion results in both sides of an offence apologising to each other. This usually also results in increased understanding, education and progress.

For him, what he can do with the ball is amazing, but if he doesn’t get his hands on it as much as he would have liked he can impact the game in other ways defensively.

“He can clean people up, tackle, pressure, and even for me playing against him, you just know he could be anywhere.

“He’ll catch you in no time and his presence, you hear him breathing behind you and start to panic and that impacts your skills.”

Just what the doctor ordered to put us back on track.

I have hear some question why we would use pick 11 / 12 or what ever it was on a small forward like Picket, but reading the above is music to my ears and along with his talent with the ball, to me provides more than enough justification that we have made a good selection at this point.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.
