seems to be a lot of people putting Jackson at 3 but I don't think it will happen.

I can see us calling Green at 3 and I think that GWS will not match it. Overall it will just be too costly for them. If we do not call Green then I would think that there might be a juicy agreement in place between GWS and MFC for the next trade period. If not green thaen I think it will be Young.

At 10 I think we will look at taking Kemp if he is still there.

28 is a lottery but it would not surprise if it was a left field special. Not left field but I would take Taylor if he is still there.

100% we will call Green's name at pick 3. Will then depend on GWS, but it's 50/50 as they are also keen on Jackson. You won't hear us calling out Young's name though, unless he slides as far as 28, but not likely.

I believe this may have been the case a week ago as Green was a chance but not anymore from what I’ve heard

I'm happy either way tbh. I was told the Dees rated Green as the best player in the draft, but could see the logic in going for something other than an inside mid.

Green Kemp  Garcia

I think we add either a 4th pick, a rookie pick or another train on player. A pacy small or a key defender depending on how the draft goes. State leagues or even a Sam Murray. I just don't see the need to hold list spots for  both Bennell and Mitch Brown.

Sokol from WA would be handy forward to add to Jackson Kozzie and Bennell snd perhaps Brown.

Bid on Green matched

3. Jackson

10. Young - Freo take Ash, Robertson - Carlton take Stephens

28 - Taylor

What you think we'll do and if you don't like that, add what you would do.

Jackson, D.Stephens, Pickett

3. Jackson

10. Kemp

28. Taylor

if we move picks ie Geelong or PA)

3. Jackson

12/ 14 Pickett and Weighman

28. Rivers

Sokol more of an option if we trade our future 4th for a current 4th and grab him in the 60’s than with 28.

We need a high quality kid with that earlier pick. Possibly a key defender but ideally a classy quick runner.

Jackson

Pickett (think it's too early but hard to ignore the smoke)

Sharp (I think he will go earlier but will fit our outside run well if still on the board)

My ideal scenario would be

Green

Stephens

Rivers (or best available small forward)

After reading the article on AFL I would take Serong, Kemp, Dow. Maybe slot Green instead of Serong.

take him at 2 in the rookie draft like snoop doggy dog suggested in his phantom long beach draft forecast..

Yep that's another option, either way I significantly doubt he's a pick 28 chance.

Twomey has us down for Elijah Taylor, Trent Rivers or Thomson Dow as the chances, hopefully one of those guys slip

Do not care who we get and they do not necessarily have to be superstars, although it would be nice if they were. The only metric I am interested in is that each contributes to our next flag.

i thought the 2 rookie spots were for bennel and mitch brown, or have i got my maths wrong

I just don't see us needing to keep 2 spots open given there's significant doubts over keeping both players and that unfortunately list spots often open up prior to March. There's no hurry to give Bennell a spot that's for sure and Brown should only get one if we really think he's best 22.

Jackson

Pickett

Taylor, Williams, tahney

Pick 3 - Green

Pick swap with Geelong.

Pick 14 - Weightman

Pick 17 - Pickett

I think the Doggies might take Weightman the pick before that unfortunately. if they do i reckon we're a chance to get Kemp with that pick.

otherwise i agree.

would be rapt with Green. looks a ready made player and a star of the future.

Heard over the past how we don't leak, blah blah.

If Jackson and Pickett  are the first two chosen someone in the football department has leaked!

My NTP criteria is recruit elite ball users that don't mind getting their hands dirty. Kind of points to Young, Ash or Stephens...

This is demonlands wines v Toumpas moment for prosperity.

i told you he was a spud

i always wanted him at 3

i can't believe we didn't draft x

In fairness dee-tox, it may be that other clubs have leaked following our open discussions.

In saying that, I have no idea why we would bother telling other clubs that we're looking at Pickett at 10.

Unless . . .

MFC: 'Hey, Freo, we'll swap you  8 for 10 & 28 if you don't intend on taking Young.'

Freo: 'Sure. Robertson is our man. But what about Henry?'

MFC: 'We won't bid on Henry and Western can have Weightman. We like Pickett.'

(People forget that Freo still have to pay for Henry. Massive points dif. between 8 and 16).

Media (MFC trades for 10. Likes Pickett . . .): 'MFC likes Pickett for pick 10'

(I think I may be in denial about potentially missing out on Young after giving up 8).

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
