To be fair all their social media accounts show them training the house down.

No wonder this club hasn't got any money. We have to rebuild this [censored]in' house, wherever it is, after every pre season.

Good to see that Preuss has been working hard during the off season so far. This time last year there was a lot of talk about the respective roles of he and Max under the new 666 regime but in the end, he spent a lot of time at Casey and with our KPF’s falling down, it all unravelled. Could his fitness be the key to a renewal of hope for the set up we expected to do so well for the team 12 months ago?

Tom Sparrow was in the lead most of the time when running with a small group of four players (Toby Bedford, Oscar Baker and I think Kade Chandler or Jay Lockart).

Hopefully he gets a good run at it.  Got some hopes for this kid.

Couldn't get a decent pic of him, another who looks in really good nick

The one thing I was impressed with at training was that the first 3/4 was spent with ball in hand, meaning not one young guy needed any extra conditioning to start kicking the footy

Max, not just words. Captain unless he doesn't want it. Pruess following in the big footsteps. Spargo's body has changed as well which hopefully means we will see some other changes across the board. Will be interesting to see what shape May is on his return along with a few others.

I love the smile on Tommy in Saty's pic above looks like he is enjoying being on the park.

Not a big squad a few must have finished early and some still away, I didn't see Harrison Petty.

Legend, thanks kev! Really appreciate the effort and info.

With Petty, he got pretty banged up as the year went on, had both concussion leg issues later in the year, so would think maybe the leg problems means he's potentially in rehab and left early or may have even been inside on a bike or something. Just a guess, but would make sense.

The most interesting thing about training apart from who's in rehab is which groups players are training with - backs, mids, forwards.

It will be very interesting to see which groups Jones, Petracca, Jordon, Hunt, Fritsch, Sparrow, Petty, C.Wagner, Lockhart, Smith are training with.

Surely Petracca trains with the midfield group all preseason

In what was has Spartacus’ body changed? Leaner, muscular, legs grown longer ??  Did he look “more athletic” or stronger?   Did you see him in the kicking drills? Longer? More penetration?

For a little bugger he had a reasonable debut season but seemed to have the second year blues.

Hope he can gain some traction again.

Will be interesting to see what effect ( hopefully improvement in competitiveness and ball contesting due to a stronger body) that Charlie brings to the table.

One taking is sure is that if ha can get 20 possessions a game forward if Centre a bid spike in creativity and goal assists and goals will result. One thing young Charlie  has is a football brain  Di I hope he ups the ante and is able to use it much more in our hopefully dangerous forward line on 2020.

Yep, sometimes there is mythology with the new stuff due to teams trying to get an 'edge'.

Bit like ice baths are now problematic...

Said it for 20+ years.

Training and injury management is about getting the basics right first.

In the last 3 years we have been so far from basics it aint funny.  Why worry about the 1 percenters, when you are going negative 40% by putting May, Joel Smith, Viney back on the park with clear sodt tissue injury in a dead rubber or a game-over situation.

Sorry, I'm confused. Do you think they made errors putting Smith, may and viney back on the park when injured? I wasn't sure where you stood in that.

And am I right in saying you support the club's decision to trade Frost? I'm not sure I agree. I mean he us so fast. And we really need fast defenders.

Can’t wait to see what Sparrow can do next year. He looks fit.

Jordon looks like Oliver when he arrived at the mfc. Needs another press on maybe.

Pruess been in the afl system for a while so hopefully he can build his endurance.

Go Dees. Love this time of year!!

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
