I remember running into Misso in an empty Darwin gym prior to a game up there. I had my Demon singlet on and thought I’d say g’day next time our paths crossed. He fresh aired me.

Hahaha, don’t you know?! If you only had a scooter under your arm he would have spoken in depth for hours on each player.

(Getting harder to tell on Demonland).

From what I can tell given the language used in all the articles about him it; it seems he's only currently signed for 1 year? Does anyone know if that's the case? I understand he's in-demand and may field offers end of next season, but will be frustrating if we're looking for another new guy after 1 season.

Yep agreed. If he went to the national soccer team or cricket Australia that would be one thing. If he marched into collingwood or the tigers that would be next level embarassing. Heres hoping he has some loyalty in his charecter and gives us a decent few year run. Might be he just wants to see if we're a basket case or a real thing. After 39 years supporting Im not sure I know myself!

I hadn't realised it was only 1 year.  Terrible mistake if so.  Poor for stability and continuity.

I just can't imagine Pert would allow just a one year contract for such a critical position given the year we have just had.  It had to be at least 2 or 3 years to get the ongoing benefits for processes, player fitness and time for succession planning of a replacement.

I'm not sure if it is just 1 year, but can't find any information about the contract term anywhere and all the language in the articles says things like "signed for the 2020 season".

On re-reading the article I think it is poor phrasing by the writer as Burgess is quoted as saying: “It was the vision that was really sold by Goody (Simon Goodwin) and Josh Mahoney [that appealed to me]...“I was really excited about where the list was at, the potential for growth within the list [and] obviously the location of the club is fantastic".

That sounds more long term than one year.  ??

It's been doing the rounds that only days after Burgess signed with the MFC there was an offer tabled for a significantly larger deal from a bigger EPL club than The Gunners. A potential exit from the MFC contract was explored but not forthcoming, and the offer subsequently did not progress any further.

Anyway, our new High Performance Manager has been described as reluctantly being at the MFC.

Reluctantly being at the MFC by choice? How odd.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
